Metabolic Clearance and Secretion Rates of Prolactin in the Rat

Endocrinology, 1971
Rat prolactin 131I, prepared by a standard method for radioimmunoassay, was given intravenously by constant infusion or by a single injection into anesthetized (Na pentobarbital) intact male rats, and ovariectomized, hypophysectomized or intact female rats.

THE SECRETION AND METABOLIC CLEARANCE RATES OF OESTRADIOL IN THE RAT

Journal of Endocrinology, 1975
SUMMARY The secretion rate (SR) of oestradiol in rats at different stages of the oestrous cycle was determined by measuring the concentration of this hormone in ovarian vein plasma by a competitive protein binding method utilizing rabbit uterine cytosol.

Metabolic Clearance Rates and Interconversion of Cortisol and Cortisone

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1972
ABSTRACT Nine normal subjects (four men and five women), three patients with Cushing's syndrome, and three hyperthyroid females were given a constant infusion of 3H-cortisol and 14C-cortisone. In normal subjects the MCR of cortisone, 451 ± 79 (sd) L/m2/24 hr, was significantly greater than the MCR of cortisol, 155 ± 40 (sd) L/m2/24 hr.

METABOLIC CLEARANCE RATE, PRODUCTION RATE, AND MAMMARY UPTAKE AND METABOLISM OF PROGESTERONE IN COWS

Journal of Endocrinology, 1975
SUMMARY Tracer kinetic techniques have been used to measure the production rate, metabolic clearance rate and mammary uptake of progesterone in six experiments on two Jersey cows. The cows were surgically prepared so that the carotid artery, jugular vein and mammary vein concentrations of progesterone, and udder blood flow, could be determined ...

The Metabolic Clearance Rate of Glucagon

1983
Studies performed over the last 10 years have clearly shown that glucagon plays a pivotal role in the normal control of blood glucose as well as being extremely important in the pathogenesis of the metabolic abnormalities found in a number of disease states (Jaspan and Rubenstein 1977).

METABOLIC CLEARANCE RATE AND PRODUCTION RATE OF OESTRADIOL IN CONSCIOUS RABBITS

Journal of Endocrinology, 1976
SUMMARY A continuous isotope infusion technique was used to measure the metabolic clearance rate (MCRB) and production rate (PRB) of oestradiol-17β in a group of six non-pregnant conscious Chinchilla rabbits. The mean MCRB of oestradiol was 162 ml/min (0·079 1/ min/weight0·75), and at equilibrium a significant proportion of the radioactivity in

THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE SPLANCHNIC, HEPATIC AND RENAL CLEARANCE RATES TO THE METABOLIC CLEARANCE RATE OF CORTISOL IN CONSCIOUS SHEEP

Journal of Endocrinology, 1973
SUMMARY The uptake of cortisol by organs in the splanchnic area of conscious, undisturbed sheep was estimated before and during the administration of adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) by measuring cortisol concentration differences in portal and hepatic venous plasma and estimating hepatic plasma flow rates. Metabolic clearance rates (MCR) of

Metabolic Clearance Rates and Secretion Rates of Prolactin in Sheep1

Endocrinology, 1973
The metabolic clearance rates (MCR) of ovine prolactin (Prl) have been estimated in lambs, and in pregnant, lactating, anestrous and ovariectomized ewes by the constant infusion to equilibrium method. The MCR were calculated using the ratio of immunoprecipitable 1-125 Prl infused to the plasma levels of immunoprecipitable 1-125 Prl.

Metabolic Clearance Rates of Catechol Estrogens in Rats*

Endocrinology, 1983
MCRs of the catechol estrogens 4-hydroxyestradiol (4-OHE2) and 2-hydroxyestradiol (2-OHE2) and of the parent estrogen 17 beta-estradiol (E2) were determined in rats. Long term ovariectomized Wistar rats were infused with the steroids at a constant rate for 3 days via a catheter placed in the abdominal aorta.
