Numerical and Experimental Assessment of Oxygen Distribution in a Perfusion Bioreactor to Mimic the Osteochondral Niche

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 8, Page 2139-2152, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Oxygen supply is a critical parameter in 3D cell cultivation using bioreactors. Since bioreactor designs often prioritise practical constraints, understanding the oxygen supply dynamics of the media is crucial for achieving either uniform or spatially controlled oxygen delivery.

Altered Glymphatic‐Related MRI Metrics and Brain Network Reorganization in Drug‐Naive Children With Self‐Limited Epilepsy With Centrotemporal Spikes

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
Drug‐naive children with SeLECTS exhibit altered glymphatic‐related MRI metrics, including reduced gBOLD‐CSF coupling and increased FW‐WM, together with disrupted functional network topology. The gBOLD‐CSF coupling is associated with nodal properties in key regions and with cognitive performance. These findings suggest that impaired brain clearance and

Defying Expectations: Extended Lifespan and Age‐Related Telomere Dynamics in the Tropical Bat Species, Molossus molossus

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We investigated age‐related telomere dynamics in the tropical bat Molossus molossus using a long‐term mark‐recapture study of 492 individuals from Panama. We documented a female surviving to at least 13 years, more than doubling the previously reported maximum lifespan, while finding no consistent evidence of age‐related telomere shortening.

Microbial Oxidative Stress in Food Fermentations: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Oxidative stress has a dual role in food fermentations: low ROS supports adaptive signaling, whereas excessive ROS causes cellular damage and process inhibition. Managing redox state as a controllable process variable can improve fermentation robustness and final food quality.

An Accelerometer‐Equipped Running Watch Provides a Valid Estimate of Peak Vertical Ground Reaction Force and Cumulative Weighted Damage: A Cross‐Sectional Laboratory Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT We validated a wearable accelerometer and running watch for estimating peak vertical ground reaction force (vGRF) and cumulative weighted damage (CWD). First, 18 well‐trained runners of equal sex distribution (3.3 ± 0.3 m/s habitual training pace) ran a range of speeds (2.7–4.0 m/s, plus training pace) on an instrumented treadmill as reference
