Efeito do sistema de plantio e doses do nicosulfuron sobre a atividade microbiana do solo Effect of planting system and nicosulfuron doses on soil microbial activity

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2011
Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito do atrazine em mistura com nicosulfuron sobre a atividade microbiológica do solo em sistema de cultivo convencional ou semeadura direta.

The Metabolism and the Respiratory Quotient of Excised Renal Tissue.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1926
Conclusions1. It is shown by complete double respiratory quotients that in the case of renal tissue, the error of the Warburg-Barcroft manometers is, on the average, ±0.014.2. The quotients were all between 0.7 and 1.0, and are fully accounted for by the oxidation of foodstuffs, without postulating the transformation of one into another.3. As evidenced

Microbial activity and metabolic quotient of microbes in soils amended with biochar and contaminated with atrazine and paraquat

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and Plant Science, 2017
The study was conducted to determine how biochar as a soil amendment maintained the microbial community in pesticide contaminated soils. Alfisol (Adenta series – Typic Kandiustalf) and Vertisol (Akuse series – Typic Calciustert) were amended with biochar

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Contamination and Soil Biological Properties in the Serra Pelada Mine - Amazonia, Brazil

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2018
Discovered in 1980 and unleashed an utter gold rush of the modern era, Serra Pelada was the largest open-air mine in Brazil. About 80,000 gold prospectors worked there until 1984, when the gold pits were flooded. The environmental impact caused by mining

Liming and Nitrogen Fertilization Effects on Soil Microbial Community in Long Term No-till [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2020
Soil management influences organic matter decomposition rates as well soil microbial community functional behavior. No-till (NT) is the most used management system by farmers due to its conservation practices and high productivity.

Grazing impact on soil chemical and biological properties under different plant cover types in a mountain area of Southern Italy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Grazing can contribute to soil degradation by compaction due to roaming of livestock and loss of herbaceous cover, affecting also soil microbial community.

Effects of Biological Sex and Age on Cerebrospinal Fluid Markers—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a key diagnostic tool for neurological diseases. To date, only a few studies have investigated in larger cohorts the effect of age and biological sex on diagnostic markers extracted from CSF. Methods For this retrospective observational study, 4163 CSF findings (2012–2020) were evaluated.
