Tailored joint fabrication process derived ultra-low resistance MgB2 superconducting joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We report an ultra-low resistance superconducting joint using unreacted multifilament MgB2 wires produced by tailoring the powder compaction pressure within the joint with heat treatment conditions. The joint demonstrated an ultra-low resistance of 5.48 x 10^-15 ohms and critical current (Ic) of 91.3 A at 20 K in self-field.

Inherited non‐syndromic polydactyly in a Berber and Arabian‐Berber horse family

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Supernumerary digits, or polydactyly, have been described in various species including humans, wild and domestic animals. In horses, it represents the most common congenital limb malformation, which has only been described in isolated cases or nuclear families. Molecular aetiology has not been reported.

Indication for CT following index finger metacarpophalangeal joint dislocation – A case report

open access: yesTrauma Case Reports, 2018
Currently Kaplan's criteria on examination are used as the gold standard diagnostic tool for complex dorsal dislocations of the index finger Metacarpophalangeal joint.

The change in third metacarpal mid‐diaphyseal radiographic dimensions in Thoroughbred foals through growth

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Changes in the third metacarpal (MC3) mid‐diaphyseal dimensions were measured radiographically in young Thoroughbred racehorses through race training and found to be associated with a higher risk of shin soreness. However, it is still unclear whether such negative MC3 morphologies are set congenitally or through development ...

Towards more realistic human motion prediction with attention to motion coordination [PDF]

open access: yes
Joint relation modeling is a curial component in human motion prediction. Most existing methods rely on skeletal-based graphs to build the joint relations, where local interactive relations between joint pairs are well learned. However, the motion coordination, a global joint relation reflecting the simultaneous cooperation of all joints, is usually ...

Metabolomic and proteomic stratification of equine osteoarthritis

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Equine osteoarthritis (OA) is predominantly diagnosed through clinical examination and radiography, leading to detection only after significant joint pathology. The pathogenesis of OA remains unclear and while many medications modify the disease's inflammatory components, no curative or reversal treatments exist.

Combined standing low‐field magnetic resonance imaging and fan‐beam computed tomographic diagnosis of fetlock region pain in 27 sports horses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background There is no description of comparative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and fan‐beam computed tomography (CT) findings in the fetlock of lame sports horses. Objectives To document low‐field MRI and fan‐beam CT diagnoses in the lame and nonlame limbs of sports horses with fetlock region pain, and to evaluate whether combined imaging ...

Modelling and analysis of biological joints of a human arm in different movements [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In the present work, irregular complex joints of the human arm are modelled in the computer-aided design environment. Accurately the geometric models of the joints and surrounding bony regions are developed from computed tomography data set and the range of movements are analysed.

Antebrachial conformation in Cocker Spaniels with and without humeral intracondylar fissure

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To objectively quantify antebrachial morphology from computed tomography (CT) scans of Cocker Spaniels with and without humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF). Study design Retrospective imaging. Methods Three‐dimensional (3D) rendered CT scans of the antebrachii of Cocker Spaniels with HIF (Group 1), or without HIF but with medial ...
