The openCost metadata schema

open access: yes
Within the framework of openCost, the project team has developed a metadata schema for costs associated with scholarly publishing, in collaboration with a number of various stakeholders. In addition to modelling cost data for individual items, modelling of contracts and their associated costs has also been developed.

OntoLogX: Ontology‐Guided Knowledge Graph Extraction From Cybersecurity Logs With Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
OntoLogX is an autonomous AI agent that uses large language models to transform unstructured cyber security logs into ontology grounded knowledge graphs. By integrating retrieval augmented generation, iterative correction, and a light‐weight log ontology, OntoLogX produces semantically consistent intelligence that links raw log events to MITRE ATT & CK

Electroencephalogram‐Driven Recognition of Parkinson's Disease Through a Mycelium‐Inspired Memristive Reservoir Computing Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents a bio‐inspired computing framework for Parkinson's disease analog recognition using electroencephalogram signals. Temporally encoded EEG features stimulate a mycelium‐inspired memristive reservoir, where disease‐related patterns emerge through physical spatiotemporal dynamics.

Metadata schema development plans

open access: yes
It's been a while, here's a metadata update and request for feedback In Spring 2023 we sent out a survey to our community with a goal of assessing what our priorities for metadata development should be - what projects are our community ready to support? Where is the greatest need?

Entropy‐Guided Convolutional Neural Network Classification of Sensor Signals for Real‐Time Surface Quality Monitoring in Direct Laser Interference Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Neural‐network pipeline for real‐time DLIP surface‐quality monitoring: spectral entropy of WLI topographies is used to generate interpretable K‐means labels, which are transferred to time‐resolved photodiode traces. A compact dual‐input 1D‐CNN (signal + laser parameters) learns discriminative spatiotemporal features and predicts “OK/NOK” surface ...

Database Application Schema Forensics

open access: yesSouth African Computer Journal, 2014
The application schema layer of a Database Management System (DBMS) can be modified to deliver results that may warrant a forensic investigation. Table structures can be corrupted by changing the metadata of a database or operators of the database can be

Material‐Based Intelligence: Autonomous Adaptation and Embodied Computation in Physical Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This perspective formulates a unifying framework for Material‐Based Intelligence (MBI), defining the physical requirements for materials to achieve embodied action, active memory and embodied information processing through intrinsic nonequilibrium dynamics. The design of intelligent materials often draws parallels with the complex adaptive behaviors of
