Synthesis of zeolite Na-A from metakaolinite revisited

Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions, 1991
29 Si and 27Al NMR, XRD, IR, SEM and EDAX have been used to examine the synthesis of zeolite Na-A from metakaolinite. When metakaolinite is treated with 5 mol dm–3 NaOH, five- and six-coordinated Al in the aluminous matrix is rapidly converted into four-coordination.

Polyacrylamide/metakaolinite nanocomposites by in-situ intercalative polymerization

Particulate Science and Technology, 2015
ABSTRACTA series of polyacrylamide (PAM) organoclay nanocomposites were synthesized by in-situ intercalative polymerization using acrylic amide, sodium hydrogen sulfite, and ammonium peroxydisulfate in the presence of various contents of metakaolinite (MK) modified with potassium acetate (KAc).

Effect of Metakaolinite on Properties of Alkali Activated Slag Materials

Key Engineering Materials, 2018
Metakaolinite was introduced to alkali activated slag mortars and pastes. Properties of fresh and hardened mortars as well as phase composition and microstructure of hardened pastes were investigated. Introduction of metakaolinite both as addition as well as substitution of slag results in severe decrease in strength of the mortars.

The Effect of Anionic Sorption on the Metakaolinite

Materials Science Forum, 2010
This paper reports an investigation on the effect of thermal activation of kaolinite. It is well known that during calcinations (400–650°C), kaolinite loses the OH lattice water and is transformed into metakaolinite or amorphous material. Arsenic is trace element that is toxic to animals including humans.

Reaction of metakaolinite with phosgene and carbon tetrachloride

Reactivity of Solids, 1987
Abstract The chlorination and chloride volatilization process of a calcined disordered kaolin with phosgene and carbon tetrachloride was studied in the temperature range 300–1100 K mostly by thermogravimetry. The effects of heat treatment, temperature and time of the reaction and also morphological changes were investigated. Preferential chlorination

High-resolution TEM studies of mullite formation in metakaolinite

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1986
Studies on the compressive fracture strength (759 MPa at 15000°C) and the flexural strength (700MPaat 1300°C) of polycrystalline mullite (3Al2O3•2SiO2-2Al2O3•SiO2) illustrate its potential for high temperature applications. In the processing of these high strength mullites, molecularly mixed Al2O3-SiO2 precursors are used to enhance mullite formation ...

The Characteristics of Metakaolinite-Based Geopolymer at Different Temperature

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Geopolymer is an inorganic cementing material with three-dimensional network structure, which is synthesized from alumino-silicate minerals or solid wastes and alkali-activated agent. But the previous reported that it is not fit for fire-resistant materials and thermal insulation materials.

Crystallization Studies of Preheated Metakaolinite

2013
It is well-known that metakaolinite forms mullite and β-cristobalite at high temperatures. The alumina component of metakaolinite never crystallizes into corundum during heating. But corundum forms in a kaolinite if it contains alumina minerals as associated phase.

Festkörper‐NMR‐Untersuchungen zur Struktur und Reaktivität von Metakaolinit

Angewandte Chemie, 1990
