Electron Beam Induced Phase Transformations from Metakaolinite to Mullite
Abstract The kaolinite-mullite reaction series by heating has been controversial since the proposal of a new transformation mechanism. Recently energy-filtered electron diffraction data obtained from the specimen furnace-heated at 920 °C indicated that the spinel-type phase coexisted topotactically with metakaolinite.

Processing–Property Mapping of Flash‐Sintered Wall Tile Bodies
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effects of furnace temperature (900°C and 945°C), applied electric field (50–200 V.cm−1), and current density (50–150 mA.mm−2) on the physical properties and microstructure of flash‐sintered wall tile bodies. Water absorption, bulk density, and open porosity were measured and compared with an industrially fired ...

Characterization of silver-kaolinite (AgK): an adsorbent for long-lived 129I species [PDF]
Bentonite is a preferred buffer and backfill material for deep geological disposal of high-level nuclear waste (HLW). Bentonite does not retain anions by virtue of its negatively charged basal surface.
