Zinc oxide nanostructures for fluorescence and Raman signal enhancement: a review

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2022
Since the initial discovery of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and surface-enhanced fluorescence (SEF), these techniques have shown huge potential for applications in biomedicine, biotechnology, and optical sensors. Both methods rely on the high

Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on Fluorescence Intensity of Fluoreseina Dye Mixed in One Solution

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2021
Metal enhanced fluorescence (MEF) is an unequaled phenomenon of metal nanoparticle surface plasmons, when light interacts with the metal nanostructures (silver nanoparticles) which result electromagnetic fields to promote the sensitivity of fluorescence.

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence (MEF) [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2009
In recent years our laboratories have described the favorable interactions and outcomes of both plasmon supporting particles (Ag, Au, Cu, Zn, Ni, Cr) and substrates with electronically excited states. These favorable effects have included enhanced fluorescence emission from singlet states, S1 and S2, as well as enhanced phosphorescence yields from ...

Metal-enhanced fluorescence of single green fluorescent protein (GFP) [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2008
The green fluorescent protein (GFP) has emerged as a powerful reporter molecule for monitoring gene expression, protein localization, and protein-protein interaction. However, the detection of low concentrations of GFPs is limited by the weakness of the fluorescent signal and the low photostability.

Metal enhanced fluorescence on silicon wafer substrates [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Physics Letters, 2008
We report on the fluorescence enhancement induced by silver island film (SIF) deposited on a silicon wafer. The model immunoassay was studied on silvered and unsilvered wafers. The fluorescence brightness of Rhodamine Red X increased about 300% on the SIF, while the lifetime was reduced by several fold and the photostability increased substantially. We

Submicrometer Spatial Resolution of Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Spectroscopy, 2003
Enhanced fluorescence emission intensity from fluorescein was observed on glass slides covered with thin films of silver nanoparticles using a confocal laser-scanning microscope. The silver nanoparticle film increased the emission intensity of fluorescein by an average of at least three-fold in the area studied.

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence Study in Aqueous Medium by Coupling Gold Nanoparticles and Fluorophores Using a Bilayer Vesicle Platform. [PDF]

open access: yesACS Omega, 2019
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) display excellent plasmonic properties, which are expected to assist fluorescence enhancement for dyes, and the phenomenon is known as “metal-enhanced fluorescence” (MEF).

Plasmon Enhanced Fluorescence and Raman Scattering by [Au-Ag Alloy NP Cluster]@SiO2 Core-Shell Nanostructure

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
Silica-shell coated noble metal nanoparticles have shown a good performance in surface enhanced fluorescence and Raman scattering. However, silica-shell coated single noble nanoparticle cannot effectively enhance the optical signal due to the relative ...
