Slowing Down Water: Enhanced and Cation‐responsive MRI Contrast

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The controlled modification of mesoporous silica nanoparticle side walls with kosmotropic motifs supports an ability to reduce water diffusive mobility and dramatically increase MRI contrast to levels unprecedented for highly kinetically stable Gd‐DOTA configurations (both q = 1 and q = 0).

Solution Synthesis of Actinide Chalcogenide and Oxychalcogenide Nanoparticles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report the synthesis of UOS, UOSe, and US2 nanoparticles under colloidal conditions. The magnetic properties were measured of all three materials and compared to prior studies of UO2 nanoparticles. Nanoparticle phases were determined using powder diffraction, and size by transmission electron microscopy.

Unlocking a Nitrosuccinate Lyase for Decarboxylative Enzymatic Hydronitration

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The nitrosuccinate lyase CreD catalyzes C–NO2 bond formation using nitrite in water and shows synthetic practicality with high turnover numbers up to 102,000. A combination of protein engineering and computational methods helped to reveal the mechanistic principles that underpin this unique enzymatic activity.

A Decoupled Cycling Architecture of Asymmetric Zinc‐Air Battery Unlocks Stable Catalyst Strategy and pH‐Dynamic Influence

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A decoupled cycling architecture along with cost‐effective membrane and efficient catalyst is developed for asymmetric zinc‐air battery. The decoupled design ensures stable operation of catalyst and the pH‐dynamic influence on battery performance is explored, which provides paths for efficient utilization of pH‐decoupling electrolytes.

Cobalt‐Catalyzed Radical Ligand Transfer (RLT) Enables Remote‐Markovnikov Hydroamination of Alkenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A cobalt‐catalyzed remote‐Markovnikov 1,3‐hydroamination of allyl carboxylates proceeds through MHAT, 1,2‐radical acyloxy migration (1,2‐RAM), and radical ligand transfer (RLT) from a Co‐N intermediate, providing protected amino alcohols. ABSTRACT Amino alcohols are prevalent in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and functional materials, yet ...
