Effect of metal carboxylates on the thermal decomposition of cellulose

Polymer Degradation and Stability, 1998
Abstract The thermal decomposition of pure cellulose and cellulose with organometallic additives (Zn-ethylhexanoate, K-ethylhexanoate and Co-ethylhexanoate) was studied using thermal analysis methods. Solid residues and evolved products were collected and analysed.

Metal–Organic Frameworks via Emissive Metal‐Carboxylate Zwitterion Intermediates

ChemPlusChem, 2015
AbstractPyridinemethanol‐carboxylate esters form octahedral complexes with Zn(NO3)2 in aqueous DMF that subsequently undergo hydrolysis at elevated temperatures to form metal‐carboxylate zwitterions. In situ deprotonation of the hydroxy group leads to thermally robust, neutral MOFs.

A DFT/CDM Study of Metal−Carboxylate Interactions in Metalloproteins:  Factors Governing the Maximum Number of Metal-Bound Carboxylates

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006
The number of negatively charged metal-bound Asp/Glu residues determines the net charge of the carboxylate-rich metal-binding site, which has been found to play a role in enhancing the affinity and/or selectivity of a protein cavity for a given metal cofactor.

Extraction and Metalation of Porphyrins in Fluorous Liquids with Carboxylic Acids and Metal Salts

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2009
Porphyrins have found application in a remarkable variety of areas such as sensors, ion selective electrodes, photodynamic therapy, and energy-transfer systems. Here, we demonstrate the extraction of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin (TPhP) and 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin (TPyP) into a mixture of perfluorohexanes (FC-72) through noncovalent ...

Metal and mixed-metal coordination polymers synthesized with pyrazine-2-carboxylate

Dalton Transactions, 2008
This Dalton Perspective summarizes the rich structural diversity in coordination polymers that utilize pyrazine-2-carboxylate (pca) as the linking ligand. Pyrazine-2-carboxylate has two donor groups in the form of ring nitrogens and carboxylato oxygens.

Metal–carboxylate interactions in metal–alginate complexes studied with FTIR spectroscopy

Carbohydrate Research, 2010
FTIR spectroscopy was used in order to obtain information about metal-carboxylate interactions in metal-alginate complexes of alginic acid and sodium alginate from the brown algae Laminaria digitata after crosslinking with Ca(2+), Cu(2+), Cd(2+), Zn(2+), Ni(2+) and Pb(2+).

Ultrastable Copper Carboxylate Metal–Organic Frameworks

Journal of the American Chemical Society
Direct synthesis of acid-base-stable copper carboxylate metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is of great significance but faces substantial challenges. Herein, a nanoenvelope strategy was proposed to protect the copper paddle-wheel cluster in the assembly between Cu(II) and 4,4',4″,4‴-(1,3,6,8-pyrenetetrayl)tetrakis-benzoic acid (H4TBAPy) through AB ...

Template Assembly of Metal Aggregates by Imino-Carboxylate Ligands

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 1999
Lanthanide, main group, and transition metal ion templates provide different polynuclear cages from [M(L)] (M=Ni, Mn; (L)2-=CH2[CH2N=C(CH3)COO-]2). Templating with lanthanum results in a 12-coordinate LaIII ion encapsulated by six [Ni(L)] units, whereas with sodium four Na+ ions are trapped inside a tricapped trigonal prismatic [{Ni(L)}9] cage.
