Comparative Solution Equilibrium Studies on Anticancer Estradiol-Based Conjugates and Their Copper Complexes

open access: yesInorganics
Steroids are often considered valuable molecular tools for the development of anticancer agents with improved pharmacological properties. Conjugation of metal chelating moieties with a lipophilic sterane backbone is a viable option to obtain novel ...

Synthesis of moxifloxacin–Au (III) and Ag (I) metal complexes and their biological activities

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2018
Background The drug-metal complexes are used to control the growth of pathogens and parasites which are harmful to humans. Moxifloxacin (MOX) is a new fourth generation 8- methoxy fluoroquinolone.

The application of HP-GFC chromatographic method for the analysis of oligosaccharides in bioactive complexes [PDF]

open access: yesHemijska Industrija, 2009
The aim of this work was to optimize a GFC method for the analysis of bioactive metal (Cu, Co and Fe) complexes with olygosaccharides (dextran and pullulan). Bioactive metal complexes with olygosaccharides were synthesized by original procedure.

Bis (Diamines) Cu and Zn Complexes of Flurbiprofen as Potential Cholinesterase Inhibitors: In Vitro Studies and Docking Simulations

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) causes dementia and continuous damage to brain cells. Cholinesterase inhibitors can alleviate the condition by increasing communication between the nerve cells and reducing the risk of dementia.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

In-silico DFT studies and molecular docking evaluation of benzimidazo methoxy quinoline-2-one ligand and its Co, Ni, Cu and Zn complexes as potential inhibitors of Bcl-2, Caspase-3, EGFR, mTOR, and PI3K, cancer-causing proteins

open access: yesChemical Physics Impact
We present here the design, Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Molecular Docking studies of Benzimidazo Methoxy Quinoline-2-one (BMQ) ligand-coordinated transition metal complexes (Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn).
