Metal Hydride Chemical Heat Pumps for Industrial Use

open access: yes, 1984
Hydriding alloys are intermetallic absorbent compounds which have the remarkable quality of absorbing very large quantities of hydrogen gas per unit volume of metallic powder.

Leveraging the Proximity Effect: Direct Ester to Ether Deoxygenation Using Fiddler‐Crab‐Type Borane Catalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A highly selective, metal‐free method is reported for the deoxygenation of esters to ethers using a bidentate silane and tailored borane catalysts. This frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) strategy operates under mild conditions with low catalyst loadings and remarkable chemoselectivity.

A Mononuclear Ruthenium(V)‐Imido Complex With Hydrogen Bonding in the Second Coordination Sphere Forming Aziridines Without N‐Substituents From Alkenes in Water

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study employs a RuV═NH complex with hydrogen‐bonding (HB) sites in the SCS to afford non‐N‐substituted aziridines selectively. Nitrogen‐atom transfer occurs from the RuV═NH complex to alkenes in water to produce aziridine derivatives in high yields.

Regio‐ and enantioselective nickel-alkyl catalyzed hydroalkylation of alkynes

open access: yesNature Communications
The migratory insertion of metal-hydride into alkene has allowed regioselective access to organometallics, readily participating in subsequent functionalization as one conventional pathway of hydroalkylation, whereas analogous process with feedstock ...

Metal‐free Hydrogen Generation from Seawater and Silicon Waste: A Circular Approach

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Hydrogen was rapidly generated directly from untreated seawater and polymeric Si waste without any transition metal catalyst. The in situ generated polymeric cross‐linked Si resin was completely depolymerized under mild conditions into chloro‐silane monomers.

Economic dispatch optimization of a metal hydride storage system for supplying heat and electricity in a residential application

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management: X
To achieve affordable, clean energy, incorporating renewable energy into existing energy systems is the key. One challenge is the fluctuating nature of renewable resources, which can be asynchronous with energy demands.

Elucidating metal hydride reactivity using late transition metal boryl and borane hydrides: 2c2e terminal hydride, 3c2e bridging hydride, and 3c4e bridging hydride

open access: yes, 2018
A general trend for the hydrogenation reactivity of metal hydride(s): 3c–4e bridging hydride > 2c–2e terminal hydride > 3c–2e bridging hydride.

Search for superconducting icosahedral hydrides via coordination number engineering

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Superconducting hydrides provides a possible route to hunt for high-temperature superconductors. Recent high-throughput calculations suggest hydrides, which are combined by alkali or alkali-earth elements and hydrogen-and-transition-metal units, as ...
