A Biocompatible, Stimuli-Responsive, and Injectable Hydrogel with Triple Dynamic Bonds

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Injectable hydrogels have attracted growing interests as promising biomaterials for clinical applications, due to their minimum invasive implanting approach and easy-handling performance. Nevertheless, natural biomaterials-based injectable hydrogels with

Smart Mechanical Powder Processing for Producing Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Aluminum Matrix Composites

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2021
The central concern in the fabrication of carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced metal composites is the well balance between uniform dispersion and structural integrity of CNTs.

Microstructure and nanoindentation behavior of Cu composites reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets by electroless co-deposition technique

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
A reduced graphene oxide/copper (RGO/Cu) composite was fabricated by a surfactant free, electroless co-deposition technique. The graphene oxide (GO) sheets were reduced and RGO homogeneous distributed into the copper matrix.

Analytical modeling of surface roughness in precision grinding of particle reinforced metal matrix composites considering nanomechanical response of material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Grinding is usually applied for particle reinforced metal matrix composites (PRMMCs) to achieve high ground surface quality. However, the surface quality especially surface roughness is difficult to predict theoretically due to different mechanical ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Low-temperature sequential deposition for efficient inverted perovskite solar cells

open access: yesNature Communications
Inverted perovskite solar cell has made significant progress in recent years. Although two-step sequential deposition shows the benefits to obtain higher quality large-size perovskite crystals, the high annealing temperature, which is required to achieve

Processing of advanced Al/SiC particulate metal matrix composites under intensive shearing – A novel rheo process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Particulate Metal Matrix Composites (PMMCs) have attracted interest for application in numerous fields. The current processing methods often produce agglomerated particles in the ductile matrix and as a result these composites exhibit extremely low ...

Advances in deformation processed gold composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Conventional metallic composites are comprised of a metal matrix with a ceramic second phase. In recent years, composites have been developed in which both the matrix and the reinforcing phase are ductile metals.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Investigation of incipient cavitation in various liquids based on PIV quantification and numerical simulations

open access: yesScientific Reports
This work experimentally and analytically investigated the incipient cavitation behavior in four liquids with different physical properties: ethanol, de-ionized water, glycerine, and aluminum melt under ultrasonic irradiation close to the cavitation ...
