Endoscopic stent placement is a well established treatment for biliary obstruction. The known disadvantage of plastic stents is their tendency to clog. This article describes another approach to treating biliary obstruction secondary to malignant neoplasms using the expandable metallic Wallstent endoprosthesis.

Performance of metal meshes as a function of incidence angle
Applied Optics, 1984An inductive mesh was measured for transmission as a function of frequency, incidence angle, and polarization. The experimental data agree well with Chen's waveguide theory for meshes as long as an adequate number of modes are included in the calculations.

Metal mesh for sustainable fish
Filtration + Separation, 2020A Swiss salmon breeder is using the Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) 2020 with GKD’s stainless steel Porometric mesh. The metal mesh is used in the drum filters for mechanical water cleaning, offering high levels of flow rate and cleaning.

Reinforcement of Bone Cement Using Metal Meshes
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part H: Journal of Engineering in Medicine, 1989Following on from previous work reported in this journal, a practical system has been developed for in situ fibre reinforcement of bone cement in the hip joint prosthesis. A fibre preform is inserted during the operation, surrounding the metal stem of the prosthesis, forming a composite with the cement.

Metal mesh resonant filters for terahertz frequencies
Applied Optics, 2008The interest in terahertz photometric and imaging measurements has motivated the development of bandpass resonant filters to be coupled to multiple-pixel devices such as bolometer arrays. Resonant grids are relatively simple to fabricate, exhibiting high transmission at the central frequency, a narrow bandpass, and good rejection of the side ...

Microstructure technology for fabrication of metal-mesh grids
Applied Optics, 1994Motivated by the need for highly efficient far-IR Fabry-Perot étalons for airborne and space astronomy, we have developed a high-yield photolithographic technique for producing low-loss metal-mesh reflectors. We describe the production technique and report on the mesh flatness and uniformity.

Effects of mesh voids on insertion loss of metallic mesh coatings
SPIE Proceedings, 2007Metallic mesh thin-film coatings have been used for many years to provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding on infrared windows and domes. During the fabrication of these conductive, micron-sized mesh patterns, mesh voids or holes in the mesh pattern occasionally occur.

Inductive cross-shaped metal meshes and dielectrics
Applied Optics, 2002The Micro-Stripes program has been used to calculate resonance wavelengths and the bandwidth of inductive cross-shaped metal meshes in contact with dielectric layers. The shift of the resonance wavelength, depending on the thickness of the dielectric layers, has been studied for two refractive indices.

A nanobursa mesh: a graded electrospun nanofiber mesh with metal nanoparticles on carbon nanotubes
Nanoscale, 2014A new material, nanobursa, consisting of polymeric nanofibers encapsulating carbon nanotubes (CNTs), carrying myriad types of metallic nanoinclusions, and suitable for functional grading, is introduced.

Metal Mesh Interference Filters for the Far Infrared
Applied Optics, 1967Far ir Fabry-Perot type interference filters consisting of two parallel, closely spaced metal meshes have been reported by others. Using improved techniques, filters of this type have been fabricated with larger finesse and peak transmittance. Measured transmittance curves, obtained with the Aerospace lamellar grating interferometer have led to ...
