Electrical or Photocontrol of the Rotary Motion of a Metallacarborane

Science, 2004
Rotary motion around a molecular axis has been controlled by simple electron transfer processes and by photoexcitation. The basis of the motion is intramolecular rotation of a carborane cage ligand (7,8-dicarbollide) around a nickel axle. The Ni(III) metallacarborane structure is a transoid sandwich with two pairs ...

Metallacarboranes as a tool for enhancing the activity of therapeutic peptides

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2019
AbstractMetallacarboranes are anionic boron clusters with high affinity to serum albumin, ability to cross biological membranes, and no apparent toxicity in vitro and in vivo. Thus, conjugation with cobalt bis(1,2‐dicarbollide), [COSAN]−, ([3,3′‐Co(1,2‐C2B9H11)2]−) may improve the properties of therapeutic peptides or proteins at both molecular and ...

A Novel Heterooctametallic Metallacarborane Tetramer

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1999
The synthesis and X-ray crystal structure determination of [(2,3-Et2C2B4H4)Co(2,3-Et2C2B3H3-5-Bu)Ru]4 (3) are reported. Complex 3 was obtained serendipitously in low yield from a reaction of [(η4-C8H12)Ru(MeCN)4][PF6]2 with the (Et2C2B4H4)Co(Et2C2B3H3Bu)2- anion in THF solution at room temperature.

Metallacarboranes of the C2B4-cage systems

Journal of Cluster Science, 1993
A comprehensive review of the chemistry of polyhedral cluster complexes in whichs,p,d, andf-block metals are incorporated into C2B4-carborane cages to form the respective metallacarboranes is presented. The main focus of the review is directed toward systematizing the chemistry of metallacarboranes in order to promote their use as possible electronic ...

CATALYSIS WITH METALLACARBORANES

1984
The formal 18 electron rhodium(+3) cluster, closo-3, 3-(PPh3)2-3-H-3, 1, 2-RhC2B9H11 (I) and related species are useful catalysts for alkene isomerization, hydrogenation and other reactions under mild conditions. These results appear to be anomalous in view of the stable electron configuration of the rhodium center present in (I).

Efficient Chemical Modification of Carbon Nanotubes with Metallacarboranes

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2015
AbstractAs‐produced single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) tend to aggregate in bundles due to π–π interactions. Several approaches are nowadays available to debundle, at least partially, the nanotubes through surface modification by both covalent and noncovalent approaches.

Advances in the metallacarborane chemistry of f-block elements

Dalton Transactions, 2010
The role of carborane clusters in organometallic chemistry is diverse. A number of carborane cage systems such as C(2)B(4), C(2)B(9) and C(2)B(10) clusters have been extensively used for the synthesis of numerous metallacarboranes of s, p, d and f-block elements.

A 12-Vertex Metallacarborane of Silver(I)

Inorganic Chemistry
The discovery of ferrocene in 1951 was a significant landmark in the field of organometallic chemistry, and since then, numerous sandwich- or half-sandwich metallic complexes have been reported. However, silver stands as an intriguing exception in this regard, and knowledge of its bonding situation has remained undisclosed.
