Metallacarboranes in the new millennium
Coordination Chemistry Reviews, 2000Abstract The field of metallacarborane chemistry has grown in many different directions and now interfaces with several other disciplines including metal cluster and organometallic chemistry, transition-metal catalysis, materials science, environmental science, and biomedical applications.

On the Solubility and Lipophilicity of Metallacarborane Pharmacophores
Molecular Pharmaceutics, 2013Metallacarborane moieties have been identified as promising pharmacophores. The pharmaceutical use of such compounds is, however, complicated by their low solubility and tendency to self-assemble in aqueous solution. In this work, we estimated the solubilities of a vast series of metallacarboranes [cobalt bis(dicarbollide) derivatives] in pure water ...

Polynuclear Metallacarborane−Hydrocarbon Assemblies: Metallacarborane Dendrimers1
Organometallics, 2003The first dendrimers containing metallacarborane modules have been prepared and characterized. The acyl derivative nido-[η5-C5H4C(O)Cl]Co(2,3-Et2C2B3H5) was treated with diaminobutane-dend(NH2)16 (...

The first supraicosahedral p-block metallacarboranes
Chemical Communications, 2002Reaction of Na2[7,9-C2B10H12] or its C-dimethyl analogue with SnCl2 in THF affords 4,1,6-closo-SnC2B10H12 or 1,6-Me2-4,1,6-closo-SnC2B10H10 respectively, the first 13-vertex metallacarboranes involving p-block metals; spectroscopic, structural and theoretical studies, including an analysis of fluctionality in solution, are reported.

Paramagnetism in Metallacarboranes: The Polyhedral Chromadicarbaborane Systems
Inorganic Chemistry, 2017The chromadicarbaboranes CpCrC2Bn-3Hn-1 (8 ≤ n ≤ 12) are of interest in providing stable paramagnetic deltahedral metallaboranes among which the 12-vertex CpCrC2B9H11 has been synthesized by Hawthorne and co-workers. Density functional theory shows that the lowest-energy such structures are quartet spin-state Cr(III) structures in which the central ...

The synthesis and characterisation of 4,1,2-MC2B10 metallacarboranes
Dalton Transactions, 2005Reduction of the tethered carborane 1,2-(CH2)3-1,2-closo-C2B10H10 followed by treatment with CoCl2/NaCp, [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2(p-cymene=C6H4MeiPr-1,4), (PMe2Ph)2PtCl2 or (dppe)NiCl2(dppe=Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) affords reasonable yields of the new 13-vertex metallacarboranes 1,2-(CH2)3-4-Cp-4,1,2-closo-CoC2B10H10 (1), 1,2-(CH2)3-4-(p-cymene)-4,1,2-closo ...
