Ceramic Particle‐Reinforced Medium‐Entropy Alloys With Outstanding Mechanical Properties Prepared by Novel Micro‐LPBF

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 37, 7 May 2026.
An innovative medium entropy alloy (MEA) composite material was fabricated via micro laser powder bed fusion (μ‐LPBF) with appropriate nano‐ceramic particles doping and exhibited markedly improved overall performance, including synergistically enhanced strength and ductility, increased hardness and compressive strength, improved wear resistance and ...

Cluster‐Mediated Solute Stabilization and Shear‐Bypass Synergistic Strengthening in High‐Alloyed Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
This study demonstrates that in high‐alloy systems, nanoclusters with high solute tolerance can effectively suppress compositional segregation. This mitigation leads to a concurrent 18.7% increase in strength and 41.5% improvement in ductility, which is attributed to a shear‐bypass synergistic strengthening mechanism. The findings provide a new pathway

Thermal-barrier coatings for utility gas turbines [PDF]

open access: yes
The potential of thermal barrier coatings for use in utility gas turbines was assessed. Pressurized passage and ambient pressure doped fuel burner rig tests revealed that thermal barrier coatings are not resistant to dirty combustion environments ...

Anchorage System Contribution to Post‐Tensioned Bridge Collapse

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
This paper presents an experimental investigation of a 1960s precast post‐tensioned girder bridge in Trstena, Slovakia, revealing severe corrosion and anchorage degradation that ultimately led to its collapse. The findings highlight critical vulnerabilities in obsolete anchorage systems and emphasize the need for proactive assessment and maintenance of

Influence of Laser Powder‐Based Directed Energy Deposition and Heat Treatment on the Thermal Conductivity of Cold‐Work Tool Steel X65MoCrWV3‐2

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 5, Page 2796-2804, May 2026.
The studied X65MoCrWV3‐2 press hardening tool steel, produced via laser‐based direct energy deposition DED‐LB/M, exhibits a 15‐20% lower thermal conductivity than its conventionally produced equivalent when heat‐treated to operational hardness. The microstructural evolution during the employed direct tempering leads to anisotropic thermal transport, as
