Metallographic Analysis of Kinetically Activated Bainite (KAB) Welds

Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis, 2015
Weldability of kinetically activated bainite steels with the process of activated tungsten inert gas welding was evaluated by means of mechanical testing and metallographic techniques. The latter were used to identify which phases formed and to determine their volume fractions as well as formation mechanisms.

Metallographic analysis of M2 high speed steel granules

Voprosy Materialovedeniya, 2019
The article is devoted to the metallographic analysis of the M2 high-speed steel granules. The study is based on the investigation of the microstructure of the M2 high-speed steel granules obtained by melt atomization. It is demonstrated that granules of similar size can harden both by chemically separating and chemically non-separating mechanism ...

Metallographic Analysis of Parts Produced by Rheocasting Method SEED

Materials Science Forum, 2017
The article shows the analysis of castings parts produced by rheocasting method SEED. Structures of as cast and heat treated castings samples were observed by light microscopy and electron microscopy. Scanning electron microscope was also used for studying of fracture surfaces after destruction of the samples during testing of mechanical properties ...

Metallographic Preparation of Hard Coatings for EBSD Analysis

Practical Metallography, 2016
Abstract Metallographic preparation is an art, especially when relevant information hidden at the micro- or nano-scale has to be unraveled. In particular, electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) is a technique that provides valuable information of the microstructure of bulk and coatings.

[Surface analysis and metallographic studies of Judet's prosthesis].

Zeitschrift fur Orthopadie und ihre Grenzgebiete, 1985
Surveying a quantity of 25 prostheses type Judet by stereoscopy and scanning electron microscopy in all specimen contaminations of the surface were found. By X-ray microanalysis these contaminations were ascertained to be mainly residues of the casting mould. Furthermore, tooling residues from the sandblast (e.g. grains of corundum or glass) were found.

Role of Metallographic Characterization in Failure Analysis – Case Studies

MPWT 2019, 2019
Abstract Conducting a materials failure analysis requires a carefully planned series of steps intended to arrive at the cause of the problem. Consistent with the current trend towards better accountability and responsibility, failure analysis purpose has been extended in deciding which party may be liable for losses, be they loss of ...
