Metallographic structure of bainitic compacted graphite cast irons
Materials Characterization, 1991Abstract The microstructural characteristics of austempered unalloyed compacted graphite cast irons have been studied. The material was subjected to a variety of bainitic treatments based on four different combinations of austenitizing and austempering temperatures, plus various periods of time at the temper temperature.

Metallographic Structure and Mechanical Properties in Vanadium Modified Titanium Trialuminides
MRS Proceedings, 1992Two types of aluminum-titanium-vanadium ternary intermetallic compounds have been prepared by arc melting under argon atmosphere. Their compositions were nominally Al65Ti25V10 and Al57Ti22V21; the numbers represent the molar fractions in mol%. These two alloys stand within the gamma-phase field where the L10 face-centered tetragonal structure is ...

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2021
Abstract Electrical apparatuses are prone to arc, which generally causes a fire, even an explosion hazard, when a flammable gas mixture is present, especially during industrial processes. Terrible fire scenes are challenging for fire investigations. In this work, by performing a simultaneous thermal analysis test we simulated a fire environment and ...

Failure of a Bucket-Wheel Stacker Reclaimer: Metallographic and Structural Analyses
Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention, 2012Abstract The structural collapse of an iron-ore bucket-wheel stacker reclaimer at the beginning of operation was investigated by means of mechanical tests, microstructural characterization, and computational structural analysis. The mechanical failure was a consequence of a brittle fracture by cleavage.

Influence of Smoke on Metallographic Structure of Short Circuited Melted Mark
Advanced Materials Research, 2012When fire breaks out, the gas composition and concentration as well as smoke concentration of burning part vary from those in normal environment. The gas and smoke absorbed during solidification of short circuited melted mark occurred in such environment will certainly have an effect on grain shape, grain size, holes distribution and impurity element ...

A metallographic and electron microscopic study of the structure of copper after dynamic pressing
Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2007Structural changes in copper samples subjected to severe plastic deformation with the use of the dynamic loading technique were studied. The deformation was caused by pressing blanks through two or three channels situated at an angle with respect to one another. The velocity of a blank before it got into the first channel was 280–450 m/s.

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1963
Abstract Electron microscopy and electron-probe microanalysis techniques have been used to study the microstructure of beryllium and some dilute beryllium alloys. The effect of thermal treatment on the dissemination of impurities and alloying elements has been investigated with particular reference to the mechanical properties of the metal at 600° C.

Research on intelligent rating method for metallographic structure based on deep learning
Ninth International Symposium on Precision Mechanical Measurements, 2019With the development of modern society, people have higher requirements for the properties of metal materials. However, according to the traditional performance testing method, the prepared samples will be placed under the high-power metallographic microscope for artificial observation and analysis.

Metallographic Investigation of Structural Changes upon Collapse of Cylindrical Copper Shells
Physics of Metals and Metallography, 2019Metallography has been used in this study to investigate copper samples cut from cylindrical shells collapsed under shock wave loading. Spallation phenomena (either the shell is divided into concentric rings, or a wide zone with spallation cavities and cracks is formed), which occur in shells under shock wave loading are considered.

Research on Metallographic Structures for Low-Alloy Steel after Fire Damage
Advanced Materials Research, 2015In chemical processing plants and petroleum refineries, the pressure vessels and pipelines suffered often from fire accidents and thus resulted in the metal materials were in overheating state. Elevated temperature could cause the changes in metallographic structure and have unfavorable effects on material mechanical properties.
