A Surface Analytical Method for Determining the Porosity of Tungsten Coatings as Hydrogen Permeation Barriers

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 1, Page 3-8, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Fast and reliable methods that permit the determination of the through‐thickness coating porosity are required to develop optimized coating–substrate systems that act as hydrogen permeation barriers. In this work, we present an analytical approach for determining the porosity of tungsten coatings that are 1.5 and 3 μm thick.

Observation on Reaction Mechanism of Lime Powder as Desulfurization Agent for Molten Cast Iron

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 11, Page 229-242, November 2025.
The reaction layer between lime particles and molten cast iron is comprehensively analyzed as one of the key factors in sustaining the lime‐based desulfurization process. The findings indicate the involvement of silicon, aluminum, iron, oxygen, and sulfur in a complex interplay forming specific slag systems and precipitations regulated by their ...

Enhanced Microstructural Refinement, Mechanical Performance, and Tribological Properties of Al‐9.2Si‐4.9Cu‐0.7 Mg Alloy via Friction Stir Processing

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2025.
Friction stir processing of an Al‐9.2Si‐4.9Cu‐0.7 Mg alloy effectively refined the as‐cast coarse microstructure, reducing the average grain size from ∼5.2 μm to ∼2.6 μm and promoting a uniform redistribution of eutectic Si and intermetallic phases.

Microwave Effects on Double‐Decomposition‐Produced Hydroxyapatite: X‐ray Diffraction, Infrared Spectroscopy, Hirshfeld Surface, and Molecular Docking Studies

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 34, September 8, 2025.
Apatitic tricalcium phosphate (Ca9(HPO4)(PO4)5(OH)) was synthesized via coprecipitation and microwave‐assisted methods. Structural (XRD), vibrational (FTIR), and thermal (TGA‐DTA) analyses confirmed phase formation. Molecular docking and Hirshfeld surface analysis revealed promising antiviral interactions with HIV‐1 targets.
