Neurochemical Endpoints to Inform Early‐Stage Trials of Spinocerebellar Ataxia 2 and 3 in a Multisite Setting

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neurochemical levels measured by brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) have been proposed as endpoints for clinical trials in early‐stage spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) trials. We tested their trial‐readiness by quantifying neurochemicals in three affected brain regions in early‐stage cohorts of SCA2 and SCA3, examining their reproducibility in ...

Processing and properties of high-purity micro-lamellate (NH4)2RuCl6 particles

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2018
(NH4)2RuCl6 is an important precursor in the synthesis of Ru powder with high-purity requirement. In this study, high-purity (>99.999 wt%) micro-sized (NH4)2RuCl6 pieces were synthesized by distillation and precipitation from crude Ru powder.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Conversion Coatings Produced on AZ61 Magnesium Alloy by Low-Voltage Process

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2016
The resultes of anodic oxide conversion coatings on wrought AZ61 magnesium alloy production are describe. The studies were conducted in a solution containing: KOH (80 g/l) and KF (300 g/l) using anodic current densities of 3, 5 and 10 A/dm2 and different

Modelling evolution of anisotropy in metals using crystal plasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Many metals used in modern engineering exhibit anisotropy. A common assumption when modelling anisotropic metals is that the level of anisotropy is fixed throughout the calculation. As it is well understood that processes such as cold rolling, forging

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Composite Nickel Coatings Produced on 6XXX Series Aluminium Alloys with the Addition of Vanadium / Kompozytowe Powłoki Niklowe Wytwarzane Na Stopach Aluminum Serii 6XXX Z Dodatkiem Wanadu

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2015
Studies of composite nickel coatings electrolytically deposited on aluminium alloys with different content of vanadium were described. Composite coatings were deposited from a Watts bath containing fine-dispersed SiC powder particles in an amount of 20 g/

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The corrosion behaviour of nanograined metals and alloys

open access: yes, 2012
There has been considerable interest in the properties of nanocrystalline materials over the last decade. Such materials include metals and alloys with a crystal size within the order of 1 to 100 nm. The interest arises due to the substantial differences
