Metal Preferences and Metallation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2014
The metal binding preferences of most metalloproteins do not match their metal requirements. Thus, metallation of an estimated 30% of metalloenzymes is aided by metal delivery systems, with ∼ 25% acquiring preassembled metal cofactors. The remaining ∼ 70% are presumed to compete for metals from buffered metal pools.

Use of plasma nitriding to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of 18Ni-300 maraging steel manufactured by selective laser melting

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
18Ni-300 maraging steel manufactured by selective laser melting was plasma nitrided to improve its wear and corrosion resistance. The effects of a prior solution treatment, aging and the combination of both on the microstructure and the properties after ...

Evolution of the ε and γ phases in biodegradable Fe–Mn alloys produced using laser powder-bed fusion

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The key feature of Fe–Mn alloys is gradual degradability and non-magneticity, with laser power bed fusion (LPBF) parameters influencing the microstructure and chemical composition.

Metal Metal

open access: yesArtilugio, 2023

Metallic hydrogen [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2018
For over eighty years, scientists have been trying to produce lab-made metallic hydrogen, the holy grail of alternative fuels. In that process, diamond anvils must withstand pressures greater than those at the center of the earth—no mean feat. Recent research may have finally achieved hydrogen’s metallic state.

Stochastic linear scaling for metals and non metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Total energy electronic structure calculations, based on density functional theory or on the more empirical tight binding approach, are generally believed to scale as the cube of the number of electrons.
