Receptor tyrosine kinases CAD96CA and FGFR1 function as the cell membrane receptors of insect juvenile hormone

open access: yeseLife
Juvenile hormone (JH) is important to maintain insect larval status; however, its cell membrane receptor has not been identified. Using the lepidopteran insect Helicoverpa armigera (cotton bollworm), a serious agricultural pest, as a model, we determined

Diagrammar and metamorphosis of coset symmetries in dimensionally reduced type IIB supergravity

open access: yes, 2004
Studying the reduction of type IIB supergravity from ten to three space-time dimensions we describe the metamorphosis of Dynkin diagram for gravity line "caterpillar" into a type IIB supergravity "dragonfly" that is triggered by inclusion of scalars and ...

Predicting long‐term population viability for an imperiled salamander under future climate changes

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We evaluated the long‐term viability of 2 reticulated flatwoods salamander (Ambystoma bishopi) populations in response to multiple future climate change scenarios. We found that there is a high probability of extinction by 2100 under some scenarios, mostly driven by severe droughts and repeated reproductive failure. Conservation actions should focus on

Does Palsa Thaw in Northern Finland Contribute to Remobilisation of Metals Accumulated in Peat Into Surface Waters?

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Permafrost is rapidly degrading in the sporadic zone, including palsa mires in Scandinavia. Peatlands in the area have likely accumulated heavy metals from atmospheric deposition of industrial contaminants in the wider region. As the palsa mire chemical composition is not well known, and in other permafrost regions the permafrost thaw may ...
