Fate and sublethal effects of metals during amphibian metamorphosis: A systematic review
Amphibians provide essential ecosystem services and are facing global decline. Exposure to contaminants is a contributing factor to this decline, with permeable skin and early aquatic life likely increasing amphibian susceptibility.

Indoles induce metamorphosis in a broad diversity of jellyfish, but not in a crown jelly (Coronatae). [PDF]
Many animals go through one or more metamorphoses during their lives, however, the molecular underpinnings of metamorphosis across diverse species are not well understood.

The identity-metamorphosis-emancipation syntagm in people with disabilities
Worldwide, one in seven people have disabilities. In order for them to achieve emancipation, it is essential that their identity is recognized. This was a qualitative, descriptive study based on the analysis of oral reports regarding the life trajectory ...

Neuromuscular development of Aeolidiella stephanieae Valdez, 2005 (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Nudibranchia) [PDF]
Background: Studies on the development of the nervous system and the musculature of invertebrates have become more sophisticated and numerous within the last decade and have proven to provide new insights into the evolutionary history of organisms.

The protein shells of the bifunctional Lumazine/Riboflavin synthase complex found in bacteria, archaea and plants show some similarity to the assembly of small spherical viruses. Sixty lumazine synthase subunits form a T = 1 icosahedral capsid, which instead of nucleic acids in the central core, contains a trimer of riboflavin synthase.

The role of retinoic acid signaling in starfish metamorphosis
Background Although retinoic acid (RA) signaling plays a crucial role in the body patterning of chordates, its function in non-chordate invertebrates, other than its mediation of environmental cues triggering metamorphosis in cnidarians, is largely ...

Body size in holometabolous insects is determined by the size at which the juvenile larva undergoes metamorphosis to the pupal stage. To undergo larva-pupa transition, larva must reach a critical developmental checkpoint, the threshold size (TS); however,
