Are metaplasias in colorectal adenomas truly metaplasias?
The American journal of pathology, 1984Five thousand seven hundred seventy-eight adenomas or adenomas containing carcinoma from 3215 patients were examined by routine histologic methods for the presence of epithelial metaplasias. Three forms of epithelial metaplasia were encountered: squamous cell metaplasia (0.44%), Paneth cell metaplasia (0.20%), and melanocytic metaplasia (0.017%).

Thymoma with Osseous Metaplasia
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2001A 69-year-old woman with a 15-year history of abnormal chest shadow was referred to our hospital. An enhanced chest CT scan of the anterior mediastinum revealed a mass containing a high-density area. The preoperative radiologic diagnosis was thymoma. Operation was performed in October 2000.

Nephrogenic Metaplasia of the Ureter
Pediatric Pathology, 1986A case of nephrogenic metaplasia of the left ureter occurring in a 7-year-old male child, associated with recurrent urinary infection and previous surgical intervention, is described. This is to our knowledge the third reported case of this entity.

Oncocytic metaplasia of the pharynx
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1991Oncocytic metaplasia of the pharynx has been infrequently described, with only two previous cases in the literature. With the advent of panendoscopy during the last decade, however, a better understanding of this histopathologic diagnosis is desirable. Thirty‐three cases are reviewed, with thirty occurring in the nasopharynx.

A Gnogenic myeloid metaplasia may best be defined as a disorder involving hematopoiesis outside the usual marrow sites, most frequently accompanied by fibrosis of the marrow. This condition represents a distinct clinical-hematologic-roentgenologic entity, with characteristic features. The literature dealing with this disease is voluminous and confused.

We present a unique case of a lipoma with widespread synovial metaplasia. A 52-year-old woman had a recurrence 1 year after excision of a subcutaneous lipoma of the neck. Histologically, the primary tumor was an ordinary lipoma. The recurrent tumor was a myxoid lipoma with synovial metaplasia.

Postpolycythemia Myeloid Metaplasia
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1974From 1950 through 1955, a total of 207 patients were seen at the Mayo Clinic with a diagnosis of polycythemia vera; 29 developed postpolycythemia myeloid metaplasia (PPMM). The patients with PPMM tended to have more symptoms than patients with agnogenic myeloid metaplasia.
