Gastroscopic Cytology in Intestinal Metaplasia
Endoscopy, 1977Based on the findings of goblet cells the authors established cytologic criteria for the diagnosis of intestinal metaplasia. With this technique they made the diagnosis of intestinal metaplasia in 79.4% of the cases surgically confirmed, this contrast to endoscopic biopsy with only 35.2%.

Endometrial Intestinal Metaplasia
International Journal of Gynecological Pathology, 2011Intestinal metaplasia of the endometrium is extremely uncommon with only a single earlier case report. We describe 2 cases of endometrial intestinal metaplasia, one of them involving an endometrial polyp, characterized by the presence of intestinal-type epithelium containing goblet and neuroendocrine cells, which were positive with CK20, CDX2 ...

Characteristics of Intestinal Metaplasia in The Gastric Cardia
American Journal of Gastroenterology, 1999Intestinal metaplasia of the gastroesophageal junction is frequently grouped together with Barrett's esophagus. The area of the gastroesophageal junction is comprised of the distal esophagus and the gastric cardia. The aim of the present study was to assess whether intestinal metaplasia in the distal esophagus and gastric cardia represent two different

Endocrine cells in intestinal metaplasia of the stomach
The Journal of Pathology, 1984AbstractIn this study we have investigated the mucin profile and the endocrine cell population in gastric endoscopic biopsies from 22 patients affected by chronic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia and in five surgical specimens of stomachs removed because of intestinal‐type carcinoma (4) or peptic ulcer (1).

Mapping Intestinal Metaplasia by Histochemistry and Morphometry
Pathology - Research and Practice, 1989A gastrectomy specimen housing an adenocarcinoma of intestinal type was divided into 60 blocks. Sections were stained with Alcian blue pH 2.5 (to detect foreign mucins). Alcian blue fields were quantitated with a MOP 30 connected to a computer. The mucosa analysed in the 60 sections measured 3788.3 mm2 and that occupied by Alcian blue stained goblet ...

Etiology of intestinal metaplasia at the gastroesophageal junction
Surgical Endoscopy, 2003Intestinal metaplasia occurs in the esophagus as a consequence of gastroesophageal reflux disease and in the stomach secondary to H. pylori infection. The etiology of intestinal metaplasia limited to the gastroesophageal junction or cardia (CIM) is disputed. We hypothesized that CIM has dual etiologies: gastroesophageal reflux in some, H.

Absorptive Function of Intestinal Metaplasia of the Stomach
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1968Emulsified and partly solubilized triolein, medium chain triglycerides, and oleic acid were administered into the stomach of 30 patients, of whom 12 had diffuse intestinal metaplasia of the body mucosa. The validity of the method was checked by administration of the same fat emulsions into the distal duodenum of 10 patients.
