Enhancing Stored Wheat Shelf Life: Advances in Storage Technologies, Integrated Pest Management, and Climate‐Responsive Approaches

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 15, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent advances in agricultural production and storage systems have contributed to a significant enhancement in annual wheat production and preservation, aimed at satisfying increasing consumer demands. Despite such potential developments, there are still significant post‐harvest losses in stored wheat, induced by destructive pests, grain ...

Pathogenicity and horizontal transmission of Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae isolates used against Sahlbergella singularis, ccoa pest in Cameroon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The brown cocoa mirid, Sahlbergella singularis (Heteroptera: Miridae) has been named the most economically important insect pest of cocoa across West African and it is capable to cause yield loss of about 30 to 70%.

The effects of soil moisture, soil texture, and host orientation on the ability of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae) to infect Galleria mellonella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) demonstrate potential as a biological control for soil dwelling insects. However, edaphic factors, such as soil moisture and texture impact the efficacy of EPN on a host. The objectives were to examine the effects of soil

Using deep learning to assess the toxicological effects of sublethal exposure of a novel green pesticide in a stored‐product beetle

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 4319-4331, May 2026.
This study employs an AI‐driven multidisciplinary approach to increase our understanding of the toxicological effects of sublethal concentrations of carlina oxide on Prostephanus truncatus. Sublethal exposure to the carlina oxide induced changes in motor patterns and thigmotaxis, highlighting its potential role in integrated pest management strategies.

Potential of Beauveria bassiana in the control of Euschistus crenator (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and selectivity to the parasitoid Telenomus podisi (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 5015-5025, May 2026.
Entomopathogenic fungi effectively suppressed the emerging soybean pest Euschistus crenator, with isolates LCMAP106, UFSM‐01 and a commercial bioinsecticide achieving the highest mortality. These agents did not reduce parasitism or survival of the egg parasitoid Telenomus podisi, highlighting their potential for integration into environmentally ...

Isolation and characterization of Beauveria and Metarhizium spp. from walnut fields and their pathogenicity against the codling moth, Cydia pomonella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Biological Pest Control, 2018
Entomopathogenic fungi (EPFs) play an important role for regulating insect pest populations, as they exist in many different ecosystems. Within these fungi, Beauveria and Metarhizium spp.

PCR-based characterisation of entomopathogenic fungi for ecological studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The implementation of PCR-based tools for characterisation of organisms has greatly advanced our understanding of the phylogenies and species boundaries in entomopathogenic fungi, especially the widespread taxa Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium ...
