Ecological Studies of Oryctes rhinoceros Larvae Controlled by Metarhizium anisopliae and Enthomopatogenic Nematodes

open access: yesJurnal Pendidikan IPA Indonesia, 2018
Oryctes rhinoceros L. (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) is a pest of coconut plant. Metarhizium anisopliae and Enthomopatogenic Nematodes are biological control agents.

The Eye of the Beholder: Male Mate Choice Is Influenced by Partner Infection Status and Self‐Condition

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Research on mate choice has traditionally emphasized the female perspective, with relatively less attention given to male choice. Here, we demonstrate that (a) males preferentially chose healthy females due to their higher attractiveness rather than to avoid infection risk, and (b) this preference was modulated by the males' own condition.

Effects of the Entomopathogenic Fungus Metarhizium anisopliae on the Mortality and Immune Response of Locusta migratoria

open access: yesInsects, 2019
Entomopathogenic fungi are the key regulators of insect populations and some of them are important biological agents used in integrated pest management strategies.

Potential of entomopathogenic fungi for Glossina austeni control: insights into microbiome alterations and implications on sustainable management of the pest

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 32, Issue 5, Page 1691-1712, October 2025.
Abstract Glossina austeni Newstead (Diptera: Glossinidae) is a competent vector of the trypanosomes causing human African trypanosomiasis and the African animal trypanosomosis. Management of this pest has primarily involved trapping methods, Sterile Insect Technique, and research into vector competence–symbiotic interactions.

Genome-wide DNA methylation analysis of Metarhizium anisopliae during tick mimicked infection condition

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Background The Metarhizium genus harbors important entomopathogenic fungi. These species have been widely explored as biological control agents, and strategies to improve the fungal virulence are under investigation.

Mortality and infection of wireworm, Agriotes obscurus [Coleoptera: Elateridae], with inundative field applications of Metarhizium anisopliae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In an attempt to cause fatal infection of wireworm Agriotes obscurus [Coleoptera: Elateridae], Metarhizium anisopliae was applied in the field as factorial combinations of conidia formulated as granules at 3.68 g granules or 1.25 x 1010 cfu per 196 cm2 ...

Improvement of colony management in insect mass‐rearing for sterile insect technique applications

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 32, Issue 5, Page 1476-1494, October 2025.
Abstract Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) applications against major insect pests and disease vectors rely on the cost‐effective production of high‐quality sterile males. This largely depends on the optimal management of target pest colonies by maximizing the benefits provided by a genetically rich and pathogen‐free mother colony, the presence of ...

Histopathology of Metarhizium anisopliae Entomopathogenic fungus Infected Larve of Musca domestica L. (Diptera : Muscidae)

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences, 2017
This study consist of using Metarhizium anisopliae as abioinsecticide against house fly Musca domestica L. For controlling it biologicaly its Larvae were treated by sprying them directly and sprying their food with 2.3 × 10 8 conidia / ml of ...

Secondary metabolite gene clusters in the entomopathogen fungus Metarhizium anisopliae: genome identification and patterns of expression in a cuticle infection model

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2016
Background The described species from the Metarhizium genus are cosmopolitan fungi that infect arthropod hosts. Interestingly, while some species infect a wide range of hosts (host-generalists), other species infect only a few arthropods (host ...

Distribuição volumétrica de calda contendo Metarhizium anisopliae Volumetric distribution of spray containing Metarhizium anisopliae
