Ethiopathogenic factors influencing the development of basal cell carcinoma

open access: yesUniversidad Médica Pinareña, 2021
Introduction: basal cell carcinoma is a cutaneous neoplasm of high incidence, characterized by slow growth and low metastatic capacity. Objective: to describe the ethiopathogenic factors that influence on the onset of basal cell carcinoma.

Attitudes among dermatologists regarding non-melanoma skin cancer treatment options

open access: yesDiscover Oncology, 2021
Non-melanoma skin cancers include basal and squamous cell carcinoma. These tumors have become an important health issue for their high incidence and for the morbidity, especially if untreated for a long period.

Basal Cell Carcinoma Metastatic to Parotid Gland [PDF]

open access: yesHead and Neck Pathology, 2013
Metastasis from basal cell carcinoma of the skin is very rare with cases being documented in the lymph nodes, lung, bone and parotid gland. The main histopathological differential diagnosis is the locally arising basal cell adenocarcinoma from which it is difficult to distinguish by morphology and routine immunohistochemistry. Approximately 85 % of all

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Multi‐omic characterization of consensus molecular subtype 1 (CMS1) colorectal cancer with dampened immune response improves precision medicine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of multi‐omic analyses in characterizing colorectal cancers. Indeed, our analysis revealed a rare CMS1 exhibiting dampened immune activation, including reduced PD‐1 expression, moderate CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, and suppressed JAK/STAT pathway.

Heparan sulfate proteoglycans undergo differential expression alterations in left sided colorectal cancer, depending on their metastatic character [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) are complex molecules which play a role in the invasion and growth and metastatic properties of cancerous cells.

A case of basal cell carcinoma of skin with bone metastasis: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background Basal cell carcinoma is the most prevalent skin cancer, most characterized by local aggressiveness but with low metastatic potential, and bone metastasis is quite heterogeneous, thus the incidence profile is variable size from 0.0028% to 0.5%.

Two Basal Cell Carcinomas of the Axillae: A Metastasis or an Independent Development?

open access: yesCase Reports in Dermatological Medicine, 2015
Cutaneous basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a common malignancy amongst the elderly. BCC rarely metastasises, and fewer than 300 cases of metastatic BCC have been reported in the literature.
