Field evaluation of a multi-point fibre optic sensor array for methane detection (“OMEGA”) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A multi-point fibre optic sensor array for methane detection (“OMEGA”) has been developed and tested under semiquantitative field conditions. The new system employed wavelength modulation spectroscopy using a DFB laser source scanned across the Q6 ...

HAZARD ANALYSIS FOR EXPLOSION OF THE METHANE CYLINDER

open access: yesTheory and Practice of Forensic Science and Criminalistics, 2016
Consideration is given to specifics of the explosion of 50 and 80-liter methane cylinders at various operating temperatures. The authors calculated the following parameters of methane-air mixture: radius of the fireball, speed of its spread and amount of the released heat energy.

Metal‐free Hydrogen Generation from Seawater and Silicon Waste: A Circular Approach

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Hydrogen was rapidly generated directly from untreated seawater and polymeric Si waste without any transition metal catalyst. The in situ generated polymeric cross‐linked Si resin was completely depolymerized under mild conditions into chloro‐silane monomers.

Spectrographic studies of the explosive combustion of methane [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A - Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1937
Abstract The combustion of the simpler hydrocarbons has been studied over a wide range of conditions and many analytical and kinetic data have been accumulated. Although several spectroscopic investigations have been made, all have been confined within narrow experimental limits and none accompanied by detailed chemical analyses.

Effect of C2H6、C2H4、CO and H2 on the explosion pressure and kinetic characteristics of methane

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2022
The gas composition of spontaneous coal combustion in a high-temperature mine fire area is extremely complex. Due to the low-temperature oxidation or pyrolysis of coal, a variety of combustible and explosive gases are produced, such as CH4, CO, H2, C2H6,

Suppression of deflagration flame propagation of methane-air in tube by argon gas and explosion-eliminating chamber

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
To explore the inhibitory effect of argon gas and explosion-eliminating chamber on methane-air deflagration flame propagation in the tube, based on the Φ = 120 mm, L = 5.5 m stainless steel pipeline test system to measure methane-air deflagration flame ...

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

Effect of flammable gases produced from spontaneous smoldering combustion of coal on methane explosion in coal mines

open access: yes, 2023
Methane released from underground coal mines forms a highly explosive mixture when combined with air, which can be aggravated by the flammable gases produced from spontaneous smoldering combustion of coal in the mines.
