Comparative study of the explosion pressure characteristics of micro- and nano-sized coal dust and methane–coal dust mixtures in a pipe

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology, 2020
Coal dust explosion accidents often cause substantial property damage and casualties and frequently involve nano-sized coal dust. In order to study the impact of nano-sized coal on coal dust and methane–coal dust explosions, a pipe test apparatus was ...

Challenges and enablers in fluidization technology

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Gas–solid fluidized beds provide excellent heat and mass transfer for high‐throughput operations from coating to catalytic conversion and underpin emerging low‐carbon technologies. Yet industrial reliability, scale‐up, and control lag scientific understanding, particularly as finer, stickier, and more variable feedstocks increasingly challenge

A Generalized Framework for Data‐Efficient and Extrapolative Materials Discovery for Gas Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study introduces an iterative supervised machine learning framework for metal‐organic framework (MOF) discovery. The approach identifies over 97% of the best performing candidates while using less than 10% of available data. It generalizes across diverse MOF databases and gas separation scenarios.

Study on the influencing factors of gas-liquid two-phase explosions of hybrid methane/isoprene on the basis of bush fires

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
To evaluate the explosion hazard of hybrid isoprene/biogas in a primary forest environment, a 20 L spherical explosion vessel combining with a colorimetric thermometry was used to study the explosion parameters, flame structures and temperature ...

The influence of strong ignition sources on the explosion and decomposition limits of gases

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
Explosion and decomposition limits of flammable and chemically unstable gases were determined experimentally in a closed autoclave with an ignition energy higher than the standard 10 J a 20 J.

Theoretical Prediction Model of the Explosion Limits for Multi-Component Gases (Multiple Combustible Gases Mixed with Inert Gases) under Different Temperatures

open access: yesFire, 2022
Combustible gases often lead to fire and explosion accidents due to their unsafe characteristics. Furthermore, their explosion limits are influenced by various factors.

Engineering Biochar‐Derived Functional Materials for High‐Performance Supercapacitors: Design Principles, Mechanisms, and Scalable Strategies

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biochar has emerged as a useful and adaptable source of carbon for supercapacitor electrodes. Its value comes from the way biomass chemistry, thermal conversion, and activation conditions shape the resulting pore network, surface groups, and degree of carbon ordering.

New Suppression System of Methane Explosion in Coal Mines

open access: yes, 2015
Statistics shows that the majority of accidents with fatal outcome are caused by methane and/or coal dust explosion. This leads to assumption that contemporary counter-explosion systems of various designs cannot be considered effective.
