Characterisation of anaerobic digestion substrates regarding trace elements and determination of the influence of trace elements on the hydrolysis and acidification phases during the methanisation of a maize silage-based feedstock

Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering, 2017
Anaerobic digestion (AD2) is a well-known pathway in bioenergy production but it could become more efficient. There is a poor understanding of the impacts of trace elements (TEs3) on substrate hydrolysis, which is a limiting step for energy production during AD.

The role of gasification and methanisation in decarbonisation strategies

open access: yes, 2017
In the new energy paradigm promoting greenhouse gases emissions reduction, energy sector has to be decarbonized. Biomass can play an important role because it is one of low carbon resource that can be stored and is available all year round. Besides, thanks to many sources and process, biomass valorization is varied: electricity, heat, biogas and ...

How do biogas models coexist ? Understanding the interactions between agricultural actors and energy developers in the deployment of methanisation in two departments of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

open access: yes
To achieve its biomethane production and injection targets, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, with its Together for 100% Green Gas in 2050 strategy, is declaring its support for all types of methanisation models. Already studied in the academic literature, mainly from an economic and geographical point of view (Carrosio, 2013; Berthe et al., 2020; Berthe ...

Conflicting biogas models ? On-farm methanisation against industrial firms

open access: yes
In order to account for asymetrical dynamics between a farmer-owned and an industrial-led biogas production in the same local territories, this communication adopts an energy justice theoretical framework. More precisely it endeavours to draw upon its distributional and recognition dimensions, in a twofold manner.

Anaerobic digestion of Ulva sp. 2. Study of Ulva degradation and methanisation of liquefaction juices

Journal of Applied Phycology, 1999
‘Green tides’ Ulva is often harvested for environmental reasons, and put in a dump. Observations on degradation of Ulva in such dumps led us to consider recovery of hydrolysis juice in order to methanize this rather than the entire alga. The hydrolysis step was then studied in the laboratory and under real conditions.

Anaerobic digestion of Ulva sp. 1. Relationship between Ulva composition and methanisation

Journal of Applied Phycology, 1997
Ulva often represents the main component of mass algal growths, and its composition and degradability make it a relatively good methanisation substrate. In ‘green tides’ Ulva sp. from Brittany, the low content oflignin-type components (polyphloroglucinols: 1.3% dry weight), and the large hemicellulosic fraction (9% dry weight) favour the substrate's ...

Development of bioenergy enterprises as a sustainable energy solution for urban micro-methanisation

Management and Business
A serious argument for the need to develop bioenergy enterprises and micro-methanisation of cities is, first of all, the need to quickly rebuild the energy sector and fulfil commitments regarding the transformation to clean energy.  Second, it is the fact that Ukraine, like most European Union countries, has significant areas of low-yield land that ...

Social marketing: the role of civic commitment in local methanisation projects in relation to stakeholder theory

2021
