Abstract The halophyte species Sea Aster (Tripolium pannonicum) was grown with different concentrations of artificial seawater. In a second experiment, T. pannonicum was cultivated with a nutrient solution containing different concentrations of NaCl. This halophyte biomass was used to determine the biogas production potential.

‘Green tides’ Ulva is often harvested for environmental reasons, and put in a dump. Observations on degradation of Ulva in such dumps led us to consider recovery of hydrolysis juice in order to methanize this rather than the entire alga. The hydrolysis step was then studied in the laboratory and under real conditions.

The role of gasification and methanisation in decarbonisation strategies
2017In the new energy paradigm promoting greenhouse gases emissions reduction, energy sector has to be decarbonized. Biomass can play an important role because it is one of low carbon resource that can be stored and is available all year round. Besides, thanks to many sources and process, biomass valorization is varied: electricity, heat, biogas and ...

Anaerobic digestion (AD2) is a well-known pathway in bioenergy production but it could become more efficient. There is a poor understanding of the impacts of trace elements (TEs3) on substrate hydrolysis, which is a limiting step for energy production during AD.

Manure microbial community dynamics and activity during adaptation to psychrophilic methanisation
2015Psychrophilic methanisation is limited by the long start-up and acclimation period of processes and microbial communities. To better understand these crucial steps we monitored the microbial community acclimation of four different manures and one digestate to anaerobic digestion at 13°C.

The goal of this study is to evaluate the impact of different Municipal Solid Waste preparation methods on the anaerobic digestion kinetics and yield. Reconstituted MSW samples were thus incubated under batch anaerobic conditions, with or without inoculation. Preparation methods include aerobic, thermal and acid preparations.
