Methanol to Aromatics

open access: yes, 2016
Aromatics are an important part of many chemical engineering processes around the world and have a large variety of commercial uses. In the future it is projected there will be a shortage of oil resources causing many research institutions to work actively to develop new techniques for producing aromatics.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Possibilities for methanol content reduction in plum brandy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences (Belgrade), 2005
Several methods for reducing the methanol content of plum brandies were tried: possibilities for its reduced forming during fruit must alcohol fermentation, and employing effective and rational methods in order to decrease the already existing amount of ...

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Review on the Use of Diesel–Biodiesel–Alcohol Blends in Compression Ignition Engines

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The use of alternative fuels contributes to the lowering of the carbon footprint of the internal combustion engine. Biofuels are the most important kinds of alternative fuels.

Quenching Distances of Methanol and Methanol Blends

open access: yesJournal of the Fuel Society of Japan, 1980
The purpose of this study is to present data on quenching distances of methanol, methanol / iso-octane, methanol / ethanol blends.Effects of adding ignition improver, such as aniline and amyl-nitrate, for methanol, ethanol, and iso-octane were also examined. The quenching distances were measured by means of the teflon-flanged electrodes method.Quenching

Endoglin mediates the tumor‐ and metastasis‐promoting traits of stromal myofibroblasts in human breast carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Carcinoma‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in tumors influence cancer progression. We identified endoglin (ENG) as a key factor in TGF‐β signaling in myofibroblastic CAFs (myCAFs), linked to poor breast cancer outcomes. Inhibiting ENG on myCAFs suppressed the TGF‐β‐Smad2/3 pathway, reducing primary tumor growth and metastasis.

Modelling of potentials for interparticle interactions between methanol molecules

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2017
Peculiarities of interparticle interactions between methanol molecules in the methanol vapor are investigated. The bare potential is considered as a sum of repulsive, dispersive and electrostatic forces.

Effect of Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester on Cerebellar Tissue Damage Secondary to Methanol Intoxication: Experimental Study

open access: yesTürk Nöroloji Dergisi, 2013
OBJECTIVE: Previous studies have shown the role of oxidative stress in methanol neurotoxicity. CAPE is noted to have an antioxidant property by many experimental studies.
