Quenching Distances of Methanol and Methanol Blends

open access: yesJournal of the Fuel Society of Japan, 1980
The purpose of this study is to present data on quenching distances of methanol, methanol / iso-octane, methanol / ethanol blends.Effects of adding ignition improver, such as aniline and amyl-nitrate, for methanol, ethanol, and iso-octane were also examined. The quenching distances were measured by means of the teflon-flanged electrodes method.Quenching

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Improving the Cu/ZnO-Based Catalysts for Carbon Dioxide Hydrogenation to Methanol, and the Use of Methanol As a Renewable Energy Storage Media

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
Heterogeneous catalytic hydrogenation of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol is a practical approach to mitigating its greenhouse effect in the environment while generating good economic profits.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Visualization study on spray and ignition characteristics of high proportion methanol / PODE blended fuel

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology
With the increasingly stringent emission requirements for shipping, methanol is a promising alternative fuel. The effects of mixing ratio and ambient temperature on the spray and ignition characteristics of high proportion methanol / Polyoxymethylene ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Role of nickel in high rate methanol degradation in anaerobic granular sludge bioreactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effect of nickel deprivation from the influent of a mesophilic (30 degrees C) methanol fed upflow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB) reactor was investigated by coupling the reactor performance to the evolution of the Methanosarcina population of the ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Fluid phase equilibria of the reacting mixture in the dimethyl carbonate synthesis from supercritical CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In order to investigate the dimethyl carbonate synthesis from methanol and supercritical CO2, the thermodynamic behaviour of the reacting mixture, i.e. the quaternary methanol/CO2/DMC/water mixture, has to be known.
