Simultaneous methanol production and separation in the methanol synthesis reactor to increase methanol production

Chemical Engineering and Processing - Process Intensification, 2020
Abstract In this study, the condensation of methanol and water in unoccupied layers near the coolant tubes of the gas-cooled reactor in mega-methanol plants are investigated. In the Lurgi mega-methanol plants, named conventional configuration (CC), water-cooled reactors are in series with the gas-cooled reactor.

Methanol production by bi‐reforming

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2015
AbstractPopulation growth and emerging economies have as consequence increasing energy demands associated with fossil fuel depletion and environmental impacts. A new philosophy emerges: the concept of green chemistry. Carbon dioxide, a well‐known greenhouse gas, is a source for the production of fine chemicals and fuels such as methanol.

Forests for methanol production

Australian Forestry, 1980
Summary The use of forests for fuel is investigated in this paper. The most promising pathway of energy utilization is considered to be thermal gasification of the forest biomass followed by synthesis of methanol. Such a process has an energy recovery of 50% and provides a liquid fuel which can substitute for or be blended with petrol for the transport

Aerobic Utilization of Methanol for Microbial Growth and Production

2021
Methanol is a reduced one-carbon (C1) compound. It supports growth of aerobic methylotrophs that gain ATP from reduced redox equivalents by respiratory phosphorylation in their electron transport chains. Notably, linear oxidation of methanol to carbon dioxide may yield three reduced redox equivalents if methanol oxidation is NAD-dependent as, e.g., in ...

Metabolism of methanol by yeast and SCP production

Journal of Basic Microbiology, 1985
AbstractThe utilization of methanol by Candida lipolytica was studied with respect to the biomass, protein, lipid and other metabolites contents. Supplementation of the methanol medium with certain redox agents such as 2,6‐dichlorophenol indophenol, reduced glutathione and methyl red, showed a stimulation of both growth and protein production of C ...
