Mutasynthesis and Antibiotic Activity of Mupirocin Analogues

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
A mutasynthetic strategy was developed to prepare pseudomonic acid analogues, and their antimicrobial activities were evaluated against five bacterial strains. Feeding studies with mutant strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens revealed that C7‐desepoxy‐PA‐B was metabolised to C7‐PA‐C with loss of the 8‐hydroxyl group, but no fatty acid chain extension ...

Bioresponsive pseudoGlucosinolates (psGSLs) Release Isothiocyanates (ITCs) in the Presence of Nitroreductases

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 25, 2 July 2026.
This work introduces the concept of pseudoglucosinolates (psGSLs) and reports the synthesis and evaluation of nitroreductase‐responsive psGSLs. These compounds represent a complementary prodrug strategy to natural glucosinolates (GSLs) for the controlled release of isothiocyanates (ITCs), enabling bio‐responsive protein labeling, as demonstrated in ...

Impact of Prophylactic Cefepime on Surgical Site Infection and Severe Morbidity in Patients Who Underwent Pancreaticoduodenectomy With Preoperative Biliary Drainage

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 10, Issue 4, Page 1133-1142, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Although prophylactic broad‐spectrum antibiotics can reduce postoperative complications after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), the optimal regimen remains uncertain. This study evaluated the impact of prophylactic cefepime (CFPM) on surgical site infection (SSI) and severe morbidity after PD with preoperative biliary drainage.

Linezolid‐induced lactic acidosis in critically ill patients: A multicentre study of incidence, severity and predictors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 7, Page 2239-2249, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction Linezolid, a synthetic oxazolidinone for resistant gram‐positive infections, is generally associated with mild adverse effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, but more serious reactions like lactic acidosis (LA) have also been reported.

Systematic review and scoring‐based selection of pharmacokinetic models for precision dosing of vancomycin in neonates and children

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 7, Page 2028-2048, July 2026.
This systematic review identified 112 population pharmacokinetic models of vancomycin in neonates and children. To support rational model selection for model‐informed precision, we developed and applied expert‐driven, transparent criteria that integrate both methodological rigour and clinical relevance.
