Bacterial DNA‐Targeting AIE Photosensitizer for Efficient Eradication of Intracellular Bacteria and Biofilm‐Associated Infections

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
A bacterial DNA‐targeted PS TPE‐CN for the precise treatment of MRSA‐associated infections has been developed. Through synergistic PDT effect, TPE‐CN damages bacterial DNA and membrane, resulting in effective elimination of planktonic bacteria, biofilm, and intracellular bacteria.

Emergence of Livestock-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus ST398 in Wild Birds, Brazil. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
In a protected forest fragment in southern Brazil, 197 wild birds were sampled, with 12.2% carrying Staphylococcus aureus. Two MRSA ST398 strains, the first reported in Brazilian wild birds, were identified. Genomic analysis revealed resistance and virulence genes, linking these strains to pigs and underscoring the critical need for resistance ...

Heteromultivalent Nanogels as Highly Potent Inhibitors of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A heteromultivalent polyglycerol nanogel system integrates fucose/galactose and short‐chain antibacterial peptides to achieve strong bactericidal and anti‐biofilm effects at low concentration by efficient multivalent binding with bacterial lectins.

Endolysins of Bacteriophages as an Anti-Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Infection in Children: A Narrative Review

open access: yesJournal of Pediatrics Review, 2018
Context: Spread of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) can cause serious and sometimes fatal diseases especially in children. Outbreaks and increasing the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant MRSA at pediatric hospital calls for the ...

Emergence of Staphylococcus aureus Resistance to Antimicrobial Peptides Nisin, NZ2114 and Bacitracin Involves Multiple Phenotypic Changes

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The AMP‐induced mutant Staphylococcus aureus strain nzR showed increased resistance, five gene mutations, and decreased surface anion levels. AMPs affect the NDH‐2 protein encoded by ndh gene inhibiting the growth of S. aureus. The deletion of the ndh gene promotes the development of AMPs resistance.
