Detection of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus by Phenotypical and Molecular Methods among Clinical Isolates

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2015
Background and Objective: Increasing prevalence of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains (MRSA) with their multidrug resistance potential causes difficulties in the treatment of infections due to these bacteria.

Fungal Antimicrobial Resistance: Mechanisms, Drivers, and Global Clinical Burden

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fungal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern for world health caused by an increase in multidrug‐resistant infections, an increase in environmental reservoirs, and the ineffectiveness of current antifungal treatments. Fungal infections continue to be largely excluded from AMR initiatives while causing over 1.6 million deaths ...

Relay Approach: A Convergent Synthesis of Key Fragments en route to (+)‐Neosorangicin A

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A selective synthesis of three key fragments of the antibiotically active (+)‐neosorangicin A is reported, providing a foundation for its convergent total synthesis and proof of strategy via a relay approach. ABSTRACT Herein, we report the synthesis of the three key fragments of the macrolide antibiotic (+)‐neosorangicin A, a compound exhibiting potent

Genetic identification of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolated from diabetic foot ulcers and evaluating the inhibition activity of reuterin against this bacteria

open access: yesJournal of the Pakistan Medical Association
Objective: To genetically diagnose the isolates of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus taken from patients with severe diabetic foot infections, and to test the inhibitory effect of reuterin on the growth of these bacteria.

The Effect of Dicloxacillin Administration on Pharmacokinetics of Narrow Therapeutic Window Drugs: Phenytoin and Warfarin

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Dicloxacillin is a penicillinase‐resistant beta‐lactam antibiotic and potent activator of the Pregnane X receptor (PXR), known to induce CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP3A4 activity. Clinical data suggest it reduces anticoagulation in warfarin‐treated patients and increases the risk of thromboembolic events.

Detection of Resistant Gene to Methicillin ( mec-A)in Purulent Infections Related to Staphylococcus Using PCR

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 2001
The emergence of Staphylococcus strains resistant to methicillin     occurred shortly after the introduction of methicillin into clinical use .    Resistance to methicillin in clinical isolates of Staphylococci has been    explained by the production of

All‐in‐One Intelligent Hemostatic Sponge: Rapid Hemostasis for Non‐Compressive Wounds With Synergetic Enhanced Antibacterial Efficacy and Self‐Reporting Biodegradation

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Clinicians often concurrently tackle critical challenges including emergency hemorrhage, secondary infection, and the elusive tracking of biodegradation of conventional hemostatic agents for complex wounds. Here, we report an intelligent hemostatic sponge (spCS@AIE) by incorporating aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) nanoparticles with short‐wave ...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Zimbabwe.

open access: yesGhana medical journal, 2016
The prevalence of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in Africa is sparsely documented. In Zimbabwe there is no routine patient or specimen screening for MRSA. The aim of this study was to document the presence and epidemiology of MRSA in Zimbabwe. The study was done in one private sector laboratory with a national network that serves ...
