Introducing a Novel Method for Measurement of Stationary and Dynamic Torsion in Shafts – With Application to Monitoring of Torsional Vibration

open access: yesنشریه مهندسی دریا, 2016
Strain gage mounted on the surface of the shafts with specified directions are one of the common methods for measurement of the torsion in shafts. The most critical problem in utilization of this method, particularly in the online monitoring of torsional

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

FEASIBLE DIRECTION SEARCH ALGORITHM FOR SET PARTITIONING PROBLEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
A new algorithm is presented for the minimum cost partitioning of Large 0-1 integer sets. The method involves generations of progressively improving feasible directions through a probing point which, while seeking the gradient of the objective function ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

A Gait Deviation Correction Method for Stable Walking With a Wearable Self-Balancing Exoskeleton Robot: A Technical Case Report

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering
The study reveals that neglecting the yaw-direction rotational friction moment of the support foot in a self-balancing lower-limb exoskeleton (SBLLER) causes gait trajectory deviation. However, conventional momentum compensation strategies are unsuitable

Cancer cell‐intrinsic type 1 interferon: production, signaling, and outcomes within sex‐biased, female malignancies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cell‐autonomous roles of interferon type 1 vary based on duration and intensity. While acute, robust signaling results in cancer cell cytotoxic effects, sustained, low‐level signaling is associated with tumor‐promoting effects. This review summarizes current research of IFN‐1 in cancer and within the clinical setting, with an emphasis on female ...

Magnitude of shift of tumor position as a function of moderated deep inspiration breath-hold: An analysis of pooled data of lung patients with active breath control in image-guided radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2008
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reproducibility and magnitude of shift of tumor position by using active breathing control and iView-GT for patients with lung cancer with moderate deep-inspiration breath-hold (mDIBH) technique.
