Method of Moments

1998
The Method of Moments (MoM) is part of a general body of mathematical techniques whose goal is to solve an integral equation by converting it into a matrix equation, which can then be readily solved on a computer. The MoM is one of the most well-developed and used of all numerical techniques available in electromagnetic analysis, including EMI/EMC work.

Method of Moments

2002
In this chapter we shall deal only with a single non-degenerate relativistic gas, the main purpose being to describe the Grad method which is based on the moments of the one-particle distribution function. For a non-relativistic monatomic gas one often uses a thirteen moment description whose objective is the determination of the fields of particle ...

Generalized Method of Moments Estimation

2008
Generalized method of moments (GMM) refers to a class of estimators constructed from the sample moment counterparts of population moment conditions (sometimes known as orthogonality conditions) of the data generating model. GMM estimators have become widely used, for the following reasons: 1.

The Moments Method

2011
The quantum hydrodynamic model for plasmas is extended through the inclusion of higher-order moments of the Wigner function. In this manner, quantum effects appear without the need of the Madelung decomposition of the ensemble wavefunctions. The treatment apply to the electrostatic as well as the electromagnetic cases.

The method of moments

1998
Abstract Although the methods of maximum likelihood and least squares lead to estimators with optimal or nearly optimal properties, they are sometimes difficult to implement. An alternative technique of parameter estimation is the method of moments (MM). Although the variances of MM estimators are not in general as small as those from
