A stiffness method for elastic-plastic shells of revolution
Journal of Strain Analysis, 1966A stiffness method is proposed for the analysis of elastic-plastic shells of revolution with axisymmetric loading. A step-by-step method of integration is used in a computer programme developed to implement the method. Calculations were performed for a toroidal bellows and a torispherical pressure vessel head; the results agree with experimental values.

Accelerated learning: A revolution in teaching method?
Education 3-13, 2003Findings by researchers in education and psychology support a handful of classroom procedures which, if followed by teachers, should lead to pupils learning at maximum capacity. The three most important are as follows. Firstly, pupils should be prepared for tasks to maintain their ongoing comprehension.

Method for calculating force coefficients of bodies of revolution
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1996Localized projectile-fluid interaction models are widely used for calculating drag and lift coefficients in a highvelocity flow in free-molecular, intermediate, and continuum flow regimes. A fast procedure for evaluating drag and lift coefficients of bodies of revolution in the range of the angles of attack from 0 to 90 deg, which can be employed in ...

Analysis of multicircuit shells of revolution by the field method
Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1976The reported investigation represents a continuation of studies conducted by Cohen (1974). The current analysis treats a much broader class of connected graphs which may contain multiple circuits. Attention is given to the definition of a boundary-value problem, the field relations, a plan of the field method, differential equations for field functions,

The Dialogical Copernican Revolution: Implications for Scientific Method
2012Thomas Kuhn begins his seminal work The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, first published half a century ago in 1962, with the words, “History, if viewed as a repository for more than anecdote or chronology, could produce a decisive transformation in the image of science by which we are now possessed.”1 Regardless of our valuation of his claim ...
