Numerical Methods for the Stray-Field Calculation: A Comparison of recently developed Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Different numerical approaches for the stray-field calculation in the context of micromagnetic simulations are investigated. We compare finite difference based fast Fourier transform methods, tensor grid methods and the finite-element method with shell transformation in terms of computational complexity, storage requirements and accuracy tested on ...

Preprocessing Approach for Power Transformer Maintenance Data Mining Based on k-Nearest Neighbor Completion and Principal Component Analysis

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, 2022
The accuracy of a knowledge extraction algorithm in a large database depends on the quality of the data preprocessing and the methods used. The massive amounts of data that we collect every day are putting storage capacity at a premium.

Detailed kinship estimation for detecting bias among breeding families in a reintroduced population of the endangered bagrid catfish Tachysurus ichikawai

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 109-124, April 2025.
In the process of captive breeding and reintroduction of endangered animal species, it is crucial to minimize familial bias in reproductive success during the reintroduction phase to preserve genetic diversity. In this study, we attempted to identify the familial lineage of individuals of the endangered bagrid fish Tachysurus ichikawai born at the ...

Examining the association between paramedic transport to the emergency department and hospital admission: a population-based cohort study

open access: yesBMC Emergency Medicine, 2021
Background Increasing hospitalization rates present unique challenges to manage limited inpatient bed capacity and services. Transport by paramedics to the emergency department (ED) may influence hospital admission decisions independent of patient need ...

Optimal SNP filtering strategies for pedigree reconstruction: A case study with wild red‐spotted masu salmon population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 125-139, April 2025.
In this article, we tested optimal SNP filtering strategies for accurate parentage assignment and pedigree reconstruction for a wild population of red‐spotted masu salmon, Oncorhynchus masou ishikawae. We found that mid‐point filtering in terms of call rate and minor allele frequency performs well for pedigree reconstruction.

Maritime supply chain security: Navigating through a sea of compliance requirements

open access: yesJournal of Transport and Supply Chain Management, 2008
As a direct result of the 9-11 New York attack all modes of freight and passengertransportation were scrutinised for vulnerabilities. Over 90% of international trade takes place via sea transport for at least some part of the supply chain and as a result

Lessons learned implementing and managing the DIVERT-CARE trial: practice recommendations for a community-based chronic disease self-management model

open access: yesBMC Geriatrics, 2021
Background Chronic disease management models of care provide an opportunity to assist home care clients to manage their disease burden. However, pragmatic trial management practices and lessons learned from such models are poorly illustrated in the ...

Evaluating the origin and spread of spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) in Japan

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 162-179, April 2025.
The invasive spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) is native to China and is a serious economic pest in the Republic of Korea and the United States, though it is not considered a pest in Japan. We established a distribution map of L. delicatula in Japan through a comprehensive review of published literature and citizen science reports and analyzed ...

The standard forms and convergence theory of the Kaczmarz-Tanabe type methods for solving linear systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper, we consider the standard forms of two kinds of Kaczmarz-Tanabe type methods, one is derived from the Kaczmarz method and the other is derived from the symmetric Kaczmarz method. As a famous image reconstruction method in computerized tomography, the Kaczmarz method is simple and easy to implement, but its convergence speed is slow, so is
