OPTIMUM DESIGN FOR IMPROVEMENT OF PM-TYPE LONGITUDINAL FLUX LINEAR MOTOR USING THE STATISTICAL METHODS

open access: yes, 2010
Permanent Magnet (PM) type Longitudinal Flux Linear Motors (LFLMs) are electromagnetic devices which can develop directly powerful linear motion. This paper presents statistical optimum design of PM type LFLM to reduce the weight of the machine with the

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

The numerical simulation of thin film flow over heterogeneous substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Considerable progress in the understanding of thin film flow over surfaces has been achieved thanks to lubrication theory which enables the governing Navier-Stokes equations to be reduced to a more tractable form, namely a coupled set of partial ...

Soil organic carbon modeling in cropland under several climatic scenarios using machine learning in western India

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study investigated how shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) scenarios affect farmland soil organic carbon (SOC). The effects of historical precipitation, temperature, soil type, soil features, land shape, farming methods, and land use changes on SOC

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Evaluating the involvement of autolysosomes in the nuclear translocation of fluorescent proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Endogenously expressed fluorescent proteins can be degraded by autophagy and transported to cell nuclei via the nuclear pore complex. But in some cell lines, for example, HeLa cells which are positive for immunoreactivity of a receptor ligand, such as UCN I, in cell nuclei, fusion of autolysosome with the nuclear envelope is involved in the nuclear ...

A volumetric modulated arc therapy-based dynamic conformal arc technique with limited monitor units (VMATliMU) to reduce multileaf collimator interplay effects: A computational phantom study for stage I non-small-cell lung cancer.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for lung cancer involves complex multileaf collimator (MLC) motion, which increases sensitivity to interplay effects with tumour motion.

Prognostic Impact of European LeukemiaNet Genetic Risk Stratification System in Adult Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of ELN2017 in predicting survival outcomes and to assess the impact of clinical and molecular factors such as age, FLT3 and NPM1 mutations, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT).

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Multiscale color gradient for image segmentation

open access: yes, 2001
This paper presents a new gradient model for video color images. These multispectral images have the characteristic, either for the transmission or for storage, to present a reduced bandwidth of color components compared to that of luminosity.
