A randomized, controlled field study to assess the efficacy and safety of lotilaner (Credelio™) in controlling fleas in client-owned cats in Europe

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2018
Background Lotilaner is a new isoxazoline developed as an oral ectoparasiticide for cats and dogs. Its safety, rapid killing onset of action and sustained speed of fleas and ticks kill for a minimum of one month after administration, were demonstrated in

Methoprene-tolerant 1 regulates gene transcription to maintain insect larval status [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Endocrinology, 2014
Insect molting and metamorphosis are regulated by two hormones: 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and juvenile hormone (JH). The hormone 20E regulates gene transcription via the nuclear receptor EcR to promote metamorphosis, whereas JH regulates gene transcription via its intracellular receptor methoprene-tolerant (Met) to prevent larval–pupal transition ...

Diet acts on sexual behavior development in a male moth

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 32, Issue 4, Page 1439-1452, August 2025.
Drastic changes are observed during sexual maturation characterized by the reproductive system development concomitantly to the sexual behavior ontogenesis. These modifications are under the control of internal and external factors such as food. Knowing that sexual maturation requires considerable energetic investment, diet has been shown to affect ...

Methoprene modifies adipokinetic hormone characteristics in the firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus (Heteroptera: Pyrrhocoridae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2010
In the present study the hypothesis that there is a feedback between juvenile hormone and adipokinetic hormones (AKHs) was investigated by topical application of the juvenoid methoprene on 9-day-old adult males of the firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus.

The quest for the best target genes for RNAi‐mediated pest control

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 505-517, August 2025.
A major challenge for RNAi mediated pest control is the identification of the most effective RNAi target genes from the pool of ~37% of all genes that are essential. Effective RNAi target genes are predominantly highly conserved genes serving basic cellular functions such as protein degradation.

Development and silk production by silkworm larvae after topical application of methoprene

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2002
Juvenile hormone analogues have been tested as insect growth regulators in silkworm (Bombyx mori), seeking an increment of silk production. These chemical products, when applied in small or moderate rates, promote the extension of the last larval instar.

Neuropeptide Ecdysis‐Triggering Hormone and Its Receptor Mediate the Fecundity Improvement of ‘Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus’‐Infected Diaphorina citri Females and CLas Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 18, May 15, 2025.
In CLas‐infected D. citri, CLas lowers 20E levels initially, relieving the suppression of ETH release. The subsequent increase in ETH levels upregulates its receptor DcETHR and activates the JH signaling pathway. The signaling cascade of 20E‐ETH/ETHR‐JH along with miR‐210, targeting DcETHR, boost female fecundity in CLas+ D.

Study of the sustained speed of kill of the combination of fipronil/amitraz/(S)-methoprene and the combination of imidacloprid/permethrin against Dermacentor reticulatus, the European dog tick

open access: yesParasite, 2011
The sustained speed of kill against Dermacentor reticulatus of two topical combinations, one containing fipronil/amitraz/(S)-methoprene and the other, imidacloprid/permethrin, was evaluated in dogs.

Efficacy of Combinations of Methoprene and Deltamethrin as Long-Term Commodity Protectants

open access: yesInsects, 2019
Wheat, corn, and brown rice were treated with different combinations of a deltamethrin suspension concentrate (SC) formulation and a new emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation, at rates of either 0.5 or 1.0 ppm alone or in combination with 1.25 and 2 ...
