Thermal characteristics of Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2009
Abstract This study was designed to investigate the thermal characteristics of Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC). Because HPMC is used in various industries extensively, it is very important to clarify the thermal characteristics in terms of its potential hazards and the spontaneous.

Variables affecting the methylation reactions of cellulose

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1994
AbstractSolubility of methyl cellulose (MC) depends on the degree of substitution (DS), the average degree of polymerization (DP), and the distribution of methoxyl groups. Of these, the DS appears to be the most important. The DS of the MC depends on the conditions of preparation.

Composition of methyl methacrylate‐grafted cellulose

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1970
AbstractGraft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate on cellulose samples was carried out using various initiator systems, and extraction treatment was performed on the copolymers with 50% to 300% grafting by weight. Adding of ceric ion to a suspension of cellulose and methyl methacrylate in water resulted in more efficient grafting than other methods.

Induction of Conjugation by Methyl Cellulose in Paramecium

Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, 1998
ABSTRACT An improved method has been developed for the induction of selfing conjugation in Paramecium. Methyl cellulose induces selfing conjugation simply and efficiently in all species examined. Induction of conjugation by methyl cellulose was characterized in P. caudatum, where it occurred only in sexually mature, mating reactive cells.
