The Vegan Villain Sets Out to The End of Summer: Functionalized Coatings as Biohybrid UV‐Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study introduces biohybrid coatings incorporating E. coli biomass expressing photoconvertible fluorescent proteins as UV‐A responsive elements. Upon irradiation at 400 nm, the coatings exhibit an irreversible fluorescence shift from green to red within 15 min. Notably, the photoconversion capability is retained after >1 year of storage.

Percent Recovery of Various Analytes Using a Wick Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Finding alternate methods to measure and isolate interstitial fluid in vivo has become a consequence of the limited recovery of analytes when using a probe.1 These probes consist of an inlet constantly bringing perfusate into a semi-permeable membrane ...

Cholesterol‐DNA Origami Nanostructures for Synthetic Lipid Rafts Induce Early T Cell Activation Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Here, we present a nanotechnology approach to construct synthetic lipid rafts on the live T cell membrane, leveraging a versatile DNA origami‐enabled platform named as the “cholesterol nano‐patch” (CNP). Our investigation highlights the effectiveness of DNA nanotechnology in exploring the impact of nanoscale arrangement of cholesterols on the ...

Charge Transfer States in Donor–Acceptor Bulk‐Heterojunctions as Triplet–Triplet Annihilation Sensitizer for Solid‐State Photon Upconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A near‐infrared photosensitizer that facilitates efficient solid‐state photon upconversion by recycling triplets formed within a fullerene‐based donor–acceptor bulk‐heterojunction system is demonstrated. Spectroscopic investigations reveal that the energy of photogenerated charge transfer states of triplet character (3CT) is subsequently transferred to

Seven coordinate molybdenum and tungsten complexes containing Tpm and Tpm derivatives and the impact of ligand substitution on NMR chemical shifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A series of known and new seven coordinate molybdenum and tungsten complexes of tris(pyrazolyl)methane (Tpm) and substituted Tpm, [TpmM(CO)3X]+, have been synthesized. Depending on the identity of X, (bromo, iodo, hydrido) and the substitution of the Tpm

Laser‐Synthesized Amorphous PdSe2‐x Nanoparticles: A Defect‐Rich Platform for High‐Efficiency SERS, Photocatalysis, and Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Using femtosecond ablation, we show that an ordered, stoichiometric crystalline PdSe2 target can be controllably converted into a stable, disordered, non‐stoichiometric, and highly functional amorphous nanomaterial, PdSe2−x${\rm PdSe}_{2-x}$. The obtained nanoparticles offer significant advantages over conventional planar plasmon‐free substrates due to

Effect of sintering temperature on structural and photocatalytic properties of zinc oxide nanoparticles

open access: yesNext Materials
Herein, we report the large-scale, low-temperature, solution combustion method for the synthesis of Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were annealed at four different temperatures and were then characterized in detail to ...
