Metabolism of 3-methylcholanthrene in rat pancreas

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1981
In vitro and in vivo studies revealed that pancreases of Long-Evans male rats metabolized 3-methylcholanthrene (3MC) principally at the 1- and 2-carbon positions. The pancreatic metabolizing capability was not induced by pretreatment with either benzo(a)pyrene (BP) or phenobarbital (PB).

Histogenesis of Methylcholanthrene-Induced Murine Cervical Cancer

Oncology, 1971
Threads impregnated with 20-methylcholanthrene and beeswax, or with pure beeswax, were implanted into the cervical canal and one of the uterine horns of 6-week-old mice. After 4- and 6-weeks’ treatment it was noted that the cervical stratified epithelium extended cranially into the uterine horn containing the thread.

Fluorescent Antibodies to Methylcholanthrene Sarcomas

1967
Specific humoral antibodies have been regularly detected in mice leukemias (Slettenmark, 1962; Wahren, 1963; Boyse, 1962; Old, 1963; Klein, 1966), but attempts to find similar antibodies in other neoplastic diseases gave negative results (Old, 1962).

Karyology of Rhabdomyosarcomas Induced with 3-Methylcholanthrene

Tumori Journal, 1972
This work aims to find out how a neoplastic condition affects the chromosome set of the rat. Malignant tumors were induced by 3-methylcholanthrene in adult rats. The karyologic examination of 3 sarcomas (S1, S2, S3) showed that: in S1 65% of the metaphases are hypotetraploid; in S2 75% of the metaphases are roughly diploid and only 25 % are ...

Effect of Methylcholanthrene on Ovaries of Mice

Nature, 1955
ALTHOUGH a great deal of work has been done on the carcinogenic action of methylcholanthrene, its effects on specific organs and tissue systems have not been completely investigated. Among the methods employed are : skin-painting, subcutaneous injection, intra-peritoneal administration as well as injection into the amniotic fluid of mice.

Histopathogenesis of "Keratoacanthoma" Induced with Methylcholanthrene

Archives of Dermatology, 1960
It has been suggested by Liang and Cowdry1-3that hair follicles are the primary site of neoplastic response when methylcholanthrene is applied to the skin of the mouse. Other investigators have emphasized the importance of the hair follicle in the development of tumors in the skin.4,5Ghadially6observed papillomas and keratoacanthomas arising from the ...
