Is methylmethacrylate toxic during pregnancy and breastfeeding?--- a systematic review

open access: yesArthroplasty, 2021
Introduction Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is commonly used in the fields of dentistry and orthopaedic surgery. However, there remain concerns for the occupational hazards of MMA, particularly during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

ATRP enhances structural correlations in polymerization-induced phase separation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Synthetic methods to control the structure of materials at sub-micron scales are typically based on the self-assembly of structural building blocks with precise size and morphology. On the other hand, many living systems can generate structure across a broad range of length scales in one step directly from macromolecules, using phase separation.

Measurement of the depth-dependent local dynamics in thin polymer films through rejuvenation of ultrastable glasses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We measure the isothermal rejuvenation of stable glass films of poly(styrene) and poly(methylmethacrylate). We demonstrate that the propagation of the front responsible for the transformation to a supercooled-liquid state can serve as a highly localized probe of the local supercooled dynamics.

Synthesis and utilization of poly (methylmethacrylate) nanocomposites based on modified montmorillonite

open access: yesArabian Journal of Chemistry, 2017
Poly (methylmethacrylate) nanocomposite was prepared via in-situ emulsion polymerization (PMMA/Mt-CTA). The modified montmorillonite (Mt-CTA) is used as hosts for the preparation of poly (methylmethacrylate) nanocomposites with basal distance 1.95 nm ...

Tunable Solid State and Flexible Graphene Electronics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate tunable solid state and flexible graphene field effect devices (FEDs) fabricated using a poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) and lithium fluoride (LiF) composite dielectric. Increasing the concentration of LiF in the composite dielectric reduces the operating gate voltages significantly from 10 V to 1 V required leading to a decrease in ...

Chemical recycling of plastics by fluidized bed pyrolysis

open access: yesFuel Communications, 2021
The chemical recycling of different kinds of mixed, dirty, or filled plastic waste is carried out in a fluidized bed process. The high heat transfer is one of the advantages for using a fluidized bed reaktor.

Interaction between Nearly Hard Colloidal Spheres at an Oil-Water Interface [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Research 2, 023388 (2020), 2018
We show that the interaction potential between sterically stabilized, nearly hard-sphere [poly(methylmethacrylate)-poly(lauryl methacrylate) (PMMA-PLMA)] colloids at a water-oil interface has a negligible unscreened-dipole contribution, suggesting that models previously developed for charged particles at liquid interfaces are not necessarily applicable

A study of multisubstituted chain transfer agents on the kinetics of homopolymerisation of methylmethacrylate . [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2013
:         A continuation to a previous study of monosubstiuted transfer agents, carried out by the same author, this investigation had been done. It has been found that multisubstituted chain transfer agents, such as tricholoro acetic acid, Di and ...

Using the head as a mould for cranioplasty with methylmethacrylate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurosciences in Rural Practice, 2013
ABSTRACTMethacrylate is a valuable tool to the neurosurgeon, even though it is currently being replaced by custom bone. During cranioplasty in the absence of custom bone, which is preformed based on the patients imaging, one has to make a cast to cover the cranial defect with or without the use of a mould.

Surfing the Color Map with Carbazole‐Appended Cyclometalated N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Pt Complexes and Their Application in Green Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Complexes [PtII(Cbz‐C^C*bzim/im)(L^L)], bearing carbazole‐appended cyclometalated NHCs, show bright phosphorescence, peaking from the blue to the yellowish–green spectral range depending on the carbene, L^L, and doping concentration. Non‐doped OLEDs using 1A or 3A (L^L = acac or P^O2) reach the best performances (Von: 2.99 V, 2.55 V; Lmax: 39208, 25837
