Predicting the creep compliances of short fiber reinforced polymer composites from the matrix creep using an elementary volume model Vorhersage der Kriechkomplianzen polymerer Kurzfaserverbunde auf Basis des Matrixkriechens mit Hilfe eines Elementar‐Volumen‐Modells

open access: yesMaterialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, EarlyView.
Creep prediction of short fiber composites: A prediction tool is presented based on an elementary volume model. It predicts creep compliances of injection molded short fiber reinforced composites using only the matrix creep. The assumption “perfect fiber matrix adhesion” underestimates the creep enabling the introduction of an adhesion factor.

Assessing the microstructure of simple rhamphothecae in chickens (Aves: Galliformes: Gallus gallus domesticus)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Simple rhamphotheca are externally homogeneous but internally are composed of several corneous layers with varying hardness. Areas under more mechanical stress such as the rostral portion and the tomia are significantly harder than other areas. Abstract Corneous sheaths on the jaws of beaked tetrapods, or rhamphothecae, are classified as simple or ...
